Installed my first dd-wrt a couple of days ago on a DIR-300. Working great so far. Your new database made it very easy to check whether the router was supported.
There was one hiccup while uploading the new dd-wrt firmware linked on the database page for the DIR-300; it caused the router to restart every 30 seconds or so, and the web interface was not accessible. This thread describes someone else having the same issue:
In the above thread, a post by ppeter suggests that the linked firmware in the database is likely broken. He may be right.
ok guys, here's the moral:
the 'DIR-300 v24 SP1 build 10020' linux.bin file that is currently reachable through the 'hardware database' page (http://www.dd-wrt.com/routerdb/de/download.php?file=451) is seriously BROKEN ! Don't use it !
I've tried them on several different wnr834bv2's and all received the same result. I had to short the tsop pins to get it to accept a tftp flash, or resort to jtag _________________ Netgear WNR834Bv2 - Save yourself from the brick.
8MB of flash
64MB of RAM
I have a high res png of this board if anyone wants it.
Suggestion 1) Please consider making the text under supported and the text under the remarks column the same. Currently the remarks area has not supported and the supported column has no. The same is true for no support possible and not possible.
Suggestion 2) Give a reason for the not possible and the not supported. Is the reason a lack of documentation? a lack of a device to apart? 1MB of flash?
I have a Belkin F5D8236-4 v3 that I bought to replace the Linksys WRT54G v8.2 that I partially killed updating to one of Brainslayer's PreSP2 micro builds (router booted, when applying changes the apply page was gone, and no interenet access).
This Belkin handles everything better, even bittorrent. The Linksys would slow down and require rebooting, even on the SP1 firmware.
I'm hoping that DD-WRT is built for the Belkin router because I miss the bandwidth usage page. _________________ Netgear 6400v2 running Toastman Tomato mod firmware
The router database is recommending SP1. SP1 is crap. It doesn't work. And people load it up because the router database says to do it, and then it doesn't work. Because it is crap. And they have to go to the forum with their issue, and everyone has to tell them that "they can't use SP1...it's crap". And they say, "But the router database said to use it".
Steer people, at least with broadcom devices, to svn 11296 as the stable build. If they want a BETA build for wireless N or dual radios, they should be sent to something like one of the BS 1200xx builds.
