This is a bit of hack question but I'll ask anyway. I have a Huawei MT880 modem, is there any way I can pull the ROM out from it without resorting to JTAG?

Or is there an easy way to just get the password for it? I ask as it was provided but the DSL speeds fluctuate wildly and previously I had a netgear DM111P in which I could at least see the DSL speed negotiated and SNR.

I can get as far as the password prompt (http and telnet) but that's about it. Any tips or tricks would be appreciated...by the way it does run busybox.

You could attempt default usernames and passwords but you've probably already tried that. Other than that, without telnet, SSH, http, and https access, the only other way to get into it would be to restore it to factory defaults and use the default username and password.

Don't hack into someone else's router without permission though. Choose the golden rule instead. Laughing

The unit's my own, just trying to rule out a bad line and at least know the link speed really is what I paid for; I just got slapped with a fat bill.
