I used DD-WRT firmware for a while, and had disabled soft reset for security. However, when the password was lost I resorted to a hard reset using the recovery mode. Reloading and soft-resetting the original firmware works. However, reinstalling DD-WRT restoring some or all of my old DD-WRT configuration. This locks me out again, and prevents soft resetting.

30-30-30 reset does not behave any differently than the hard reset/recovery mode.

Anyone know how to clear the settings for the DD-WRT firmware without soft-reset or access to it's admin mode?

I had a similar issue some weeks back with a lockout due to copy and pasting a password with a carriage return...

long story short, do a recovery flash back to stock

do an reset under stock firmware or by pin

flash dd-wrt (it will have still remembered some of the settings... however the pin reset feature worked again for me Wink

Do LAN LED work on DIR-615 E3 with the r21061 or others? I'm using r18007 right now and it seems to be the last one that has them working.

btw 18007 works very well in wireless bridge or WDS client as well.

I installed DD-WRT on the DIR-615 (rev i1) I just received, and it works just fine, but I'm curious about one thing. It seems to me that with the stock D-Link firmware the power light was amber while it was booting up, and then turned green. With DD-WRT it stays amber. Is that normal?

Yes with dd-wrt the power light remains amber all the time. Nothing is wrong with it.

UPDATE. Nevermind, I figured out what I was doing wrong. I never turned off "MANUAL IP" and didn't go back to Autoconfigure IP address. Just worked fine using emergency mode option from this post :
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=441247#441247

I have a DIR-615 C1. It was previously installed with 3.01 firmware and I could not load the DD-WRT factory to ddwrt BIN file. I did all the steps and waited the 120 seconds or so it said, actually longer, but once it uploaded the ddwrt file it just bricked it. I did a 30-30-30 reset and it brings me to this screen every time :
If I choose a DLINK Firmware file I can update to whatever version I want. I have tried it with 3.01 and 3.10 They all update it fine and I can get back into the DLINK admin panel, but whenever I goto update with ddwrt it just bricks it.

I have also tried uploading the ddwrt file from the screen when its bricked (below screen shot)
What am I doing wrong or missing here?

Having a really odd issue. My router is C1 according to the bottom. However, I cannot upload any new firmware of any kind. Tried both DD-WRT and standard DLINK firmwares and neither will work.

Have tried uploading via the standard firmware upgrade path and emergency mode.

My router:

Product Page: DIR-615 Hardware Version: C1 Firmware Version: 3.10NA

cannot be flashed (via the router's web-interface) to the DD-WRT software. I get an "invalid or corrupted" message.

I have downloaded the file:

File: dir615c1-factory-to-ddwrt-firmware.bin
Tail: AP81-AR9130-RT-070614-02

by "tail", I mean the last few visible characters when I use the Windows 'NotePad' application to open the file, and to view the last few visible characters.

I noticed the following about the "official" firmware offered by D-LINK:

Source: ftp://ftp2.dlink.com/PRODUCTS/DIR-615/REVC/DIR-615_REVC_FIRMWARE_3.13.ZIP
File: DIR615C1_FW313NAB09.bin
Tail: 00AP81-AR9130-RT-070614-02

Notice that this "tail" starts with '00', but otherwise is identical.

As a user of Windows (not Linux) what should I do next?

Hi, everyone so I've cracking my head trying to solve this: I jus can't update my router neither the official firmware or the DD-Wrt one are working, I've been trying to use the edited version from a 2010 post, no success either, neither the defaut update page or the recovery mode page are working, tboth of them give the same error message, that the firmware chosen isn't the right one for the hardware version.
HELP
My router is the DIR-615 C2
BTW: Sorry for the bad english Embarassed

The 'C1' and the 'C2' seem to share the same software.

Which web-browser are you using to access the router's web-interface? Have you tried a different one?

I'm still not able to update my router.
