Hi there,
I have two Rev D1 devices, the sticker says:
H/W Ver: D1
F/W Ver: 4.10DE
(DE Firmware is probaly deutsch == german)
and the Router Database tells me dd-wrt would not work on Rev D1, but I read that D1 and D2 are nearly the same. So I just gave the D2 image a try - without changing anything in the file (downloaded it using FF, went to the routers web admin and uploaded it).
The result: Build 14311 [DD-WRT v24-sp2 (04/23/10) std] for D2 works on both of my D1 devices :-)
I uploaded it yesterday and both routers are running quite nice with over 15 clients.
One is in the basement and acts as internet router, DHCP, DNS and WiFi AP, the other one is on the middle floor and is just an WiFi AP (and we have one more AP on the top floor, old AVM Fritz!Box 3050 with stock FW).
just successfully flashed dd-wrt on my C2, original firmware 3.01. used neo to do the hex editing, which was easier than it sounded. am using it as a wireless repeater. so far, so good.

I know this is a bit late but has anyone had any luck with the A1 revision of the DIR-615 HW? Not listed at all in the database; wanted to verify before I attempt to flash a different version.
In order to install the firmware on a DIR-615 Rev C1 I had to zero-pad the dd-wrt firmware until it was the exact same number of bytes as the factory firmware (3866650 bytes) and move the signature to the end. Otherwise it refused to accept the new firmware.

I just want to put in a question here. Its probably a better place for it thna making a whole new thread:
Assuming you can get any hardware revision you want - which one is the most optimal?
I see there are both different CPUs and WLAN chips in the different revisions, so which are better (if there is any appreciable difference)? Especially for the CPU it would be great even to have just slightly more availiable power.
Its pretty much impossible to find any info on how fast these CPUs are compared to eachother, so I hope an expert can chime in here with a recommendation :)
I installed dd-wrt on my 615 revC, and found it didn't do anything the D-Link firmware did. In fact, my computer upstairs will now only connect at 65Mbps instead of 150. So I am going back to D-Links firmware. This DD-WRT thing does nothing for me.

Lol.. there is some settings to change first after you flash.. like..
Those are not default settings, leave the defaults there yes things won't be the way you want.

According to Brainslayer when I was talking with him about DIR-615, E1 is the "best". Difference is the ability to directly input what speeds (Kbps) to limit MAC/netmask/services to. While the earlier revisions go by priority only (express, bulk, etc). Other than that not much if anything. The D revisions are Ralink chips but I prefer Atheros myself. Atheros chips are rev C1/C2/E1. All have the same flash and RAM size.

I have this problem with my wireless connection: every time I watch and HD video on YouTube (and other sites) my wireless connection is not working anymore until I restart. This is related to any video watched with Adobe Flash 10.1.
What can you make of it?
