I am somehow confused which is the proper upgrade file for dd-wrt_x64_full_efi_vga-ext4.image.
Based on my own experience, "dd-wrt_x64_full_efi_vga_ext4.image" can be upgraded with "dd-wrt_x64-webupgrade_full_vga_efi.bin" but NOT "dd-wrt_x64-webupgrade_full_vga_ext4_efi.bin" and the system will stuck in grub after reboot.
Question - what is "dd-wrt_x64-webupgrade_full_vga_ext4_efi.bin" for?

It should be self-explanatory. Certain files most likely are associated with the 2GB image files. But that is just my own personal logic.
My simple mind told me "dd-wrt_x64-webupgrade_full_vga_ext4_efi.bin" should associate with "dd-wrt_x64_full_efi_vga-ext4.image"; but my experience told me that is NOT so.
My question remain unanswered - what is "dd-wrt_x64-webupgrade_full_vga_ext4_efi.bin" for?

@kernel-panic69,
Just did what I thought you suggested in your last reply.
Use "dd-wrt_x64-webupgrade_full_vga_ext4_efi.bin" r65908 to upgrade my x86_64 system running "dd-wrt_x64_full_efi_vga_2GB.image" r65876.
Absolutely no go. Console reported file is too big as soon as I click upgrade in webUI. System rebooted and stay in r65876 without any noticeable harm so far. I guess I will keep on using "dd-wrt_x64-webupgrade_full_vga_efi.bin" to upgrade "dd-wrt_x64_full_efi_vga_2GB.image" and "dd-wrt_x64_full_efi_vga_ext4.image" unless someone points out the fallacy.
Again, what is "dd-wrt_x64-webupgrade_full_vga_ext4_efi.bin" for? Anyone has any insight or insider information, please share. Appreciate.

Either some of these generated files are moot or superfluous, I don't know which. But, ext4 files should work with ext4 files, then, since I was thinking wrong. Both the 2GB and ext4 files are ~2GB in size when you extract them. I honestly do not remember what BrainSlayer said last time I queried. pfSense and OPNSense are much easier to install and maintain, anyway. /shrug _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"
