Please do not flash builds until installation is understood, risks involved and device specificrecovery methods.

List router model & version or revision, operating & wireless modes & exact filename/firmware image flashed.
CLI Flash: 'cd /tmp' then 'wget {file URL}' (httponly) or 'curl -O {file URL}' (http, https, ftp) 'write {file} linux' then 'reboot'.
Issues, observations, and/or workarounds reported:
• WebUI: Clear history or use a portable. Temporary cache bypass: Ctrl+F5, Cmd+Shift+R or new private window/incognito.
• Please report findings with steps needed to reproduce, configuration, clients, output, logs and important information below!
Important:
• Detail issues & relevant configs, logs: syslog klog 'dmesg' 'cat /tmp/var/log/messages' nvram set console_debug=1, serial.
• Firewall NAT: 'iptables -vnL' 'iptables -t nat -vnL' 'iptables -t mangle -vnL' & 'cat /tmp/.ipt'. Debug Analyze: stracetcpdump.
• Gremlins: reboot. cold boot. Reset & reconfigure not restore backup. Search Trac & discuss in forum before opening tickets.
• Include operating & wireless modes (e.g. Gateway, Router, AP, SB, WDS, Mesh) and applicable configurations to reproduce.

Netgear/R6800 File/Kernel: r64210 Previous/Reset:05/30/2025 - r61542 Mode/Status: Bricked ! Issues/Errors: Power led Solid amber
Using CLI and write seems fine. But my R6800 I have running DD-WRT since 2024 seems definitively bricked.
So:
- 30/30/30 reset method failed
- TFTP tentatives failed ( no mac pops or 192.168.1.1 pings on the wired ethernet link with my PC )
- I have a Jtag USB cable but not really sure this router have pins for ( I have such cable since my old netgear WRN3500 bricks ) BUT have to get accurate screw driver to open it up. so nothing have been tried on this side.
- I read "peacock Thread-FAQ" : haven't found related instructions or something else.
Before open opening it , I would be pleased if there something I missed or trick related to such router.
thanks @kernel-panic, I bring it back to life by flashing original Netgear R6800_V1.2.0.92_1.0.1.img using nmrpflash BUT:
- moving to the factory-to-ddwrt.img I got since Nov 2022 ( 11/02/2022 - r50786
): good
- then going on 03-27-2026-r64137 : bricked !
- back to flashing nmrpflash : back to life running NG's firmware
- moving to the 03-27-2026-r64137 factory-to-ddwrt.img : bricked again ( amber solid power led)
I am just wondering if the last version are ok for such router.. which one is ok for my R6800 router as I went fine up to 04-24-2025-r60742...

More recent firmware images for MT7621 (DIR-XXX, RXXXX) have been migrated to the Linux 6.12 kernel from 4.14. But of course, this and any caveats aren't really explicitly noted in the OP of any build threads since this development. Again, need serial console output to see what is bricking it. I do believe BrainSlayer has an R6800 in hand, so not entirely sure if he has been testing these. thanks again for your help, I have able to go up to 11-12-2025-r62606 which seems to be the last Linux 4.14. Then got bricked ( Power LED is amber solid) going to 03-18-2026-r64079
In order to produce serial logs I need to find accurate screwdriver and connect serial USB. As soon I can doing it ; I'll try to doing but the the kernel upgrade seems to be a valid explanation.
When in power LED solid amber state, pushing reset button did not help ( to be honest this is the fist thing I did )

I also have to report that I got "adventurous", and upgraded all three of my netgear R7450's to ddwrt r64210, one after the other, without testing on one first. The R7450 is apparently a FW clone/build of the r6800.
They were all bricked, LOL. Shut me down for a few days, LOL.
I ended up using nmrpflash ava via the Ubuntu standard update servers. I first downloaded the newest Netgear firmware for the R7450, currently at 1.2.1.92(R7450_V1.2.1.92.zip), renamed the .img to firmware.img, and used the following command. That got them working again, and then re-installed the prior dd-wrt using the factory-to-ddwrt.img for dd-wrt r63020.
They're back to being happy.
# nmrpflash -i eno1 -f firmware.img -a 192.168.1.1 -A 192.168.1.10 -M 255.255.255.0 -T 30
One thing I noticed is that when I re-appled the factory-to-ddwrt.img, the Netgear FW warned that I was dropping the firmware version from 1.2.1.92 back to 1.0.0.62.
Does the dd-wrt build for the r7450 using any part of (an old) Netgear firmware? Or was that 1.0.0.62 firmware version arbitrarily chosen by BS?
I also noticed that - on the Netgear website - the newest Netgear firmware for the R7450 was -specifically- for the R7450, whereas for previous versions it redirected you to using R6800-named firmware. Netgear was now keeping them separate, despite it being a clone of the R6800(?).
I guess I'm not sure what the current "safe" build is for the r7450(or for my xr700).
It's probably the "ambitCfg.h" version info which doesn't seem to be in the public repo for the R6800 and similar hardware it seems. It's trivial, unless you flash a Netgear firmware that won't allow the override.
As you said, it seems trivial. The Netgear firmware allowed the override anyways, otherwise I probably wouldn't have been here.
I would have still have been pulling my hair out.
It always amazes me that BS and others can make this work as well as it does without explicit help from Netgear and the other manufacturers.
