Please do not flash builds until installation is understood, risks involved and device specificrecovery methods.

List router model & version or revision, operating & wireless modes & exact filename/firmware image flashed.
CLI Flash: 'cd /tmp' then 'wget {file URL}' (httponly) or 'curl -O {file URL}' (http, https, ftp) 'write {file} linux' then 'reboot'.
Issues, observations, and/or workarounds reported:
• WebUI: Clear history or use a portable. Temporary cache bypass: Ctrl+F5, Cmd+Shift+R or new private window/incognito.
• Please report findings with steps needed to reproduce, configuration, clients, output, logs and important information below!
Important:
• Detail issues & relevant configs, logs: syslog klog 'dmesg' 'cat /tmp/var/log/messages' nvram set console_debug=1, serial.
• Firewall NAT: 'iptables -vnL' 'iptables -t nat -vnL' 'iptables -t mangle -vnL' & 'cat /tmp/.ipt'. Debug Analyze: stracetcpdump.
• Gremlins: reboot. cold boot. Reset & reconfigure not restore backup. Search Trac & discuss in forum before opening tickets.
• Include operating & wireless modes (e.g. Gateway, Router, AP, SB, WDS, Mesh) and applicable configurations to reproduce.

After upgrading to firmware r64023, the router started to malfunction.
the router restarted with both LEDs of LAN ports 1 and 2 burning green even though they were not connected. Furthermore, no Wi-Fi devices could connect anymore to the router.
Rolled back / reverted to r63600 from January 30.
Router/Version: Dlink DIR-882 A1
File/Kernel: Linux 4.14.356-openela-rc1-rt159 #7042 SMP Fri Jan 30 17:11:07 +07 2026 mips

All MT7621* targets (D-Link DIR-878, 882; Netgear R6800, et al) were recently updated to the Linux 6.12.x kernel. Serial console output / syslogs / dmesg with nvram set console_debug=1 necessary for developer, even though he tested the 878 / 882 he has in hand and said it works.

dir 882 laying next to me. all is working. all lan port leds working as expected. (they are hardware controlled anyway and not controlled by software)

one major hint. the new 6.12 based version does not make use vlan1 and vlan2 anymore. there is now a wan and lan1 lan2 lan3 lan4 interface for each port. so its usually mandatory to reset the config with the advantage of way better switch port handling now _________________ "So you tried to use the computer and it started smoking? Which dir 882 are you using? A1 or R1?
I have two dir-882-A1 and they both malfunctioning after upgrading to the new build.
also tried the new r64079 build, the same result. i had to revert it back to r63600
if you want me to send you some logs, I've never done it before. I'll need some help producing them.
Do a reset after flashing this build, as these have migrated to DSA. Then report back. If you are using any VLANs, you will have to reconfigure them the new way.

in the old way I've disabled the WAN port to use it as an extra LAN port, I guess the new way is working differently.
do you have for me a link to the new way to configure it? I missed it all together... sorry for that.
...And is there a way to use the WAN port as an extra LAN port in the new way?
If disabling WAN doesn't automatically do it with DSA, go to the Setup -> Networking tab and see if "wan" is assigned to br0. If not, you will need to add it to br0. You will most likely also have to change operating mode on the Setup -> Advanced Routing tab to "router" as well.
I've added it to br0, everything is working fine now. Thanks!!
