As always, the Quantenna chip has its own quirks. This is a closed source chipset
There is no way to install a channel.
But you can disable 5.0 GHz. @mpgalaxy hack "If you set the radio mode to station bridge and disable the network mode, the 5GHz device will turn off completely even after reboot."
If your router's light turns red, don't worry. Internet connection is ok.

Router/Version: 2X Netgear R7000
File/Kernel: Linux 4.4.302-rt232-st71 #15002 SMP Fri Jan 30 15:15:52 +07 2026 armv7l
Previous/Reset: Router: r52596, AP: r49361. Upgraded via easyddup, no reset.
Mode/Status: 1X Router, 1X AP. Uptime ~5 days.
Issues/Errors:
* Frequent wifi disconnection coinciding with key renewal interval persists since after r49361 (deauthenticated from [AP MAC] (Reason: 16=GROUP_KEY_HANDSHAKE_TIMEOUT)). https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=334737 Setting key renewal interval to 86400 seems ok/tolerable for now.
* iperf3 is missing/removed, maybe due to lack of space? Is there a standalone binary that can be downloaded? I miss this functionality.
* Bandwidth charts are four per row, which makes them illegible. Possible to revert to old layout with one (or maybe two) per row?
Otherwise, easy upgrade and build seems solid and stable.
Issues/Errors:
My Wi-Fi drops periodically. When I try to connect, devices show a connection attempt, then "unable to connect to this device." Yesterday, the router started displaying an "incorrect password" error on connected devices, which led to all devices connected to the Wi-Fi asking me to re-enter the password, from TVs to two dozen smart home devices, including those that are physically very difficult to access. I have two RT-AC68U routers, and both have the Wi-Fi dropout issue. I had to downgrade to firmware 62170.
Router/Version: 2x Netgear R7000
File/Kernel:r63600/Linux 4.4.302-rt232-st71
Previous/Reset: No
Mode/Status: Running 1x access point, N-WiFi; 1x gateway with VLAN tagging for fiber optics, AC WiFi only/Both up for 2d
Issues/Errors: Initially none. The gateway disconnected after 2d and was not able to reconnect. Various changes in the GUI render the router's GUI temporarily unavailable, but it's not restarting.
