I have set the static IP details on the computer I'm flashing from, unplugged the router, held down the reset button, then plugged it back in, waiting for the PWR light to begin flashing (2-flashes, pause, repeated)
Firstly, when I try to use the Asus Firmware Restoration program, it give states:
Code:
Connect to the wireless device...1 second
and counts up, then after about a minute, it states:
Code:
No wireless device in recovery mode is found."
Then, attempting to use the TFTP client suggested on the wiki page, I get a
Code:
Error occured during the file transfer (Error code = 0), Error in recfrom() call. Please check in the TFTP server is available.
I've pinged the router to make sure there's connectivity, not quite sure what to try next.
have you tried starting the restore before you plug the router's power back in?
it should just continue to try to do it till it can connect and start transferring (like the way some buffalo's have to be done - e.g. getting it to start downloading the new firmware at exactly the right second during the boot) _________________ 2x WRT54G v5, 2x WRT54G v2

Few questions:
1.What is the current status of the router now? After you reset the power.
2.Have you reset the router settings to default before trying to flash it?
freonchill: I just tried doing that, starting the upload before plugging back in the router, still no effect.
I also tried with TFTP, likewise no luck.

1. Throughout all of this, the default Asus firmware remains there. When I put it into recover mode, with the blink PWR light, the web-interface isn't accessible, however, simply reset it, and the web-interface comes back.
2.Yes, I've tried a factory reset via the Asus web interface prior to doing this, unfortunately, still no luck.
When the router is in normal mode is its IP 192.168.1.1?
When you put the router in restore mode and try to ping it what is the result?
What is the result of ipconfig for PC when the router is in the restore mode?
Before, I'd just taken a quick glance at the back, seen the red button, and used that. Looking closer, it's the EZSetup button, the actual reset button is black, and smaller.
I'm sorry for using up people's time, and thanks to all the people who tried to help. Ah well...at least I can flash it now...
