ping rtt's from wifi to ethernet are good. ethernet to wifi rtts are high and erratic. Its the same with any combination of ethernet<>wifi clients.

I'm on a Netgear r7000. I saw this on 6 month old firmware, and just updated to 11/02/2025 firmware with no change.

Any ideas?

Are Ethernet and Wifi bridged or on separate sub-nets?

Same subnet. Also, its on a 5ghz channel with no conflicting AP.

R7000 with its Broadcom wifi drivers is not famous for client compatibility/performance...especially 5Ghz...is it the same with 2.4ghz radio..what TX rates are set on the networking page...post a pic of your wifi settings...too

Without stepping on DFS or recent spec changes, here are the most client-compatible 80mhz channels
36,48,(42)
149,161,(155)

You can also try enabling CTF - it helped me in achieving higher transfer rates:

Settings conflict? https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=323674
There's an unlock script for more channels. Also, the upper/lower provide some more variety.
Be sure to scroll down and see the charts to take note of Non-DFS channels that are compatible with All 5ghz client-devices (and take note that channel 100ish can't be seen by some). Indeed, the [next] problem of a router having more channels, is replacing client-devices that don't.

There's also a chart of allowed power in DBM for the 80mhz channel groups, with some large differences depending on which channel you use. Also, the upper/lower thing is now obsolescent, as there is now a preset combination for full throughput (and the rest doesn't meet compatibility). For example (scroll up to the big photo, this same thread), channel 52 with the extensions lower? The menu is utter nonsense! You're going to need the android wifi analyzer app to find out what the settings actually do. There's no such thing as an even number of extensions for 52 and no such thing as lower for 52 because it is at the bottom of its block which does not go lower for extensions. See attached photo for the 5ghz spec.

This chart is better (attached photo).

Performance for today's 5ghz devices Requires this:
