I'm curious about the speed possible on a R7800. I (supposedly) have a 1Gb download internet connection. Speedtest gives me about 540Mb. While the test is running, the load on the R7800 hits about 0.40. If I understand properly, with a 2 CPU processor, this value means the CPU is working at about 20%. On the old Kernel 4.9 it could do 1 GB/s without any off loading, on newer kernel 6.X you need NSS off loading but it might introduce problems of its own
To be able to do 1 Gb/s without any off loading you need quad core 2.0 GHz but if you want to do SQM with 1 Gb/s you need x86 CPU's

hmm its not like that...as you wish...
DDWRT nor OpenWRT do not use multi-threading, but rather balance the cores..so some processes are done by one of the cores and ect for the other core...you can fiddle with balance, but at the end R7800 has x2 CPU's @1.7Ghz so that much the router can do...Dynalink or R9000 have x4 cores at 2Ghz+ and those work and have a better balance and CPU speed...
Also, test results depend on client compatibility, range, hardware capabilities, router settings and ect. and yes you could try to turn on ECM-NSS and QCA subsystem, but on my R7800 those tend to bug the router and i loose WAN..and last time i check it, it was few builds ago...but you can try and post the results..
finally ACK time of 2000 is not great value, in general those are like 0, 450, 900, 1350 or 3150, but if it works for you it works...i use either 450 or 900 never has an issues

I would recommend what i have and what the other also favor... Dynalink WRX36 if you could find one, on ebay/amazon and go over the not that complex initial install ... its not that bad and actually you have an easy recover option if something goes wrong...mine still fine and never had an issue... yet
Otherwise something x86 or x64.... or new Linksys (DDWRT supported line) that have quad core CPU's
Qualcomm IPQ8072A same A53 as on Dynalink.... if im not wrong MX8500 or MX5300... sadly i don't own any of those, nor ve seen lots of new builds reports recently but they have very capable CPU's _________________ Atheros

The router database itself *ISN'T* current last I knew. However, the Supported Devices Wiki is fairly up-to-date, except for the newly supported managed switches, and of course, I don't have a list of all x86 / x86_64 devices that are on the market and have been tested to work with DD-WRT. I recently broke it down to paid license, 802.11*g legacy, and 802.11n being in separate pages because any edits were a huge chore with the amount of data and limitations of MediaWiki.
