So I have an asus AC5300, great router except the 2.4ghz radio dies when I add access restrictions or anything that adds to much to the config. I've tried what should work as a startup command.

wl -i eth"X" radio "on"/"off" X = 1,2,3

& wl radio "on"/"off" turns off just 2.4ghz radio

These do not work, once the radio died from this (hardware) bug it can't be brought back except via settings reset and re-doing all my settings. It completely disappears from the wireless radio page & oddly enough combines itself with the 5ghz radio as one. It will show as wl2 [2.4ghz/5ghz/802.11ac]. This of course only is a 5ghz radio, 2.4ghz is just gone.

Anyway I've been updating to newer & newer ddwrt version & the problem persists. Currently on 3.0-r62157 std

ANY SUGGESTIONS?
Any suggestions?

BONUS - Side quest question, why would the web interface not be available over one of the 5ghz radios?

You can try the experimental driver firmware but to be honest these dhd (dongle host driver bus) routers suck, not on my recommended list Sad

I've wondered what it was about this router that made the 2.4ghz channel so unreliable. THANKS for the insight.

I might have found a solution and I need confirmation this will work.

So in Cron
Additional Jobs under management I added this.

0 12 * * * root /tmp/.rc_custom

Then under Custom Script admin commands I added this attachement.

Should that work to monitor and reboot the radio as needed???? The crash is kinda random but a reset and re-configure is the only fix that I know works. Its really annoying to have to do that all the time.

UPDATE: It does not work and Now I wonder WHY?
