I was trying to set up my Archer C7 v5 as an access point. I failed at that and so now I am just looking for a way to get the device back to default settings. Or, I am open to putting different firmware on there if that's about the same level of difficulty.

Here is what happened.
1) I connected my computer to the Archer C7 via Ethernet cable and I reset the settings to default.
2) I set a new username and password for the Archer C7.
3) I tried to set the local IP address & subnet mask. I wasn't sure what to put for local IP address. Turns out I should have put 10.0.0.254. But, instead I put 192.168.1.200. At the time, I figured I would just come back and fix that later. I could not find the field for subnet mask. So, I didn't do anything there. I turned off DHCP and I might have changed to DHCP passthrough. I turned off the 2 wifi channels. I don't think I did much else in there.

I disconnected computer from Archer C7 and connected instead to the ISP provided gateway (a modem and router in one). I then read some more on the internet about what I was stuck on.

When I re-connected my computer to the LAN port, my operating system gives a message. Something like, "failed to establish connection."

My computer is Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon.

There are many things wrong with what you've done. I think now is a good time to hold down the reset button for ~15 seconds and start over....then read some dd-wrt wikis before continuing.

Thank you. That worked.

Powered on.
Held reset button for 15 seconds. Power light turned off right at the 15 second mark and then back on right away.
