Hi guys,
I am finally decommissioning my old RT-AC5300 and R7000P, and need to purchase a new router ASAP. In the past I have stuck with Broadcom chipsets, but what would you suggest at the moment? Are there any Broadcom AX chipset based routers likely to have ongoing DD-WRT support? Or should I be looking at a QCA based router, or just stick with AC chipsets, or maybe go the x86 route (I have heaps of old components that would probably be suitable)?
To give you an idea of load it'll have to comfortably handle:
- 250/50Mbit fibre WAN (with the potential to scale up to 1000/400)
+ Up to five people streaming and playing p2p games simultaneously
+ Minecraft server, accessed by up to ten people via WAN
+ Manage 2-3 WAPs

It's already been stated that Broadcom AX support will never happen in DD-WRT. First of all, Broadcom does not provide full GPL'd source code SDK. Second of all, most OEM firmwares are locked to a specific kernel version. Thirdly, OEM firmwares still use uClibc, not MUSL, so that would take overall development back 9 years or so.

Yeah, but the last post I saw regarding that was a few months ago? That's like a lifetime in tech evolution time Weird stuff happens, like maybe there are back doors we won't know about for a few years yet?
Looks like it's time for me to order a few higher bandwidth LAN cards. Thanks for the help
