I am a relatively familiar with Ubuntu Server as I run an Ubuntu based LEMP server myself. So I am relatively familiar with
Debian based operating systems. I'm mostly used to the fact that if I download software with apt on a non-dd-wrt debian based system,
I can find the configuration file for that download somewhere in the
Code:
/etc
folder (ex. /etc/nginx/). From there I can do a sudo nano
Code:
/etc/nginx/nginx.conf
and modify the configuration file from there. This file structure is relatively simple.

What I dont understand is DD-WRT filestructure with AND without Entware installed.
Looking at the ddwrt's filesystem via an ssh connection doesn't look as familiar as I hoped it would be. Furthermore, after installing Entware, I now have an
Code:
/opt/
folder created by entware.

When I download Nginx feom entware using a opkg install nginx, i noticed my nginx.conf file is not in
Code:
/etc/nginx/
directory, but is somewhere else.

I am looking for an explanation of how the filesystem in regards to persistent, non-persistent, and Entware files are structured. What folders in DDWRT keep the GUI settings and remain persistent accross reboots? What are all the files in
Code:
/tmp
? When I install something from entware, where are the files stored, how can I configure them, and how can I activate them if my dd-wrt build already has old versions of that downloaded app (ex:
Code:
opkg install avah
i, or
Code:
opkg install samba/smb
f). How does the ddwrt file structure work in general? If I want to use an entware version of an already proviided ddwrt version of an app, such as avahi or samba, how do i do that?

I'm just not aware of how ddwrt filestructure works in general with and without entware installed. Any explanation on this would be of great help and highly appreciated. Thankyou!
