What about NSS-ECM-SFE? Is WAN IP acquisition still broken when it's enabled?

Router/Version: Netgear XR500 (Install guide by egc)
File/Kernel: dd-wrt-webupgrade.bin (r61264) / Linux 6.1.138-rt28 #575 SMP Sun May 11 01:20:36 +07 2025 armv7l
Previous/Reset: DD-WRT v3.0-r60791 std (04/28/25) / no
Mode/Status: AP, NSS-ECM-SFE, AP 5GHz AC/N-Mixed 80MHz + AP 2.4GHz N Only 20MHz, WPA2/WPA3-Personal, 802.11r (FT), SSH (public key), DDNS (Dynu.com), 802.11 encapsulation offloading, ondemand CPU governor at night, SuperSpeed USB Storage (guide by egc), lighttpd (using Entware’s php8), WireGuard server, Cron / partially working
Issues/Errors: Similar to New Build - 04/26/2025 - r60771, some WiFi clients can't connect to 2.4GHz/5GHz network sometimes. Client is stuck at "Obtaining IP address" while /Info.htm page shows the client as connected with MAC, uptime, rate, RSSI, etc. After a short while, client auto disconnects and auto retries connecting again with no success.
LAN device still can access the internet, but the router itself cannot (NTP failed, DDNS failed).
Reverted to r60791.

Previous/Reset: DD-WRT v3.0-r61238 std (05/12/25) , last reset on r60791
Mode/Status: Gateway (NSS-ECM), Access Point (5GHZ-HT20 AX/AC/N mixed, WPA2/WPA3, 802.11r/v/k, guest network, domain:UNITED STATES), performance governor, IPV6 (DHCP6 w/ prefix delegation), Entware, DOT via SmartDNS/DNSMasq, OpenVPN server, Wireguard Server + 2 Wired access points (2.4GHz-HT20 N/G Mixed, 5GHZ-HT80 AX/AC/N mixed, WPA2/WPA3, 802.11r/v/k, guest network, domain:UNITED STATES)
Issues/Errors:
Up 2.5 hours. USB 3.2 stick working properly for Entware and "jffs" partitions. Speed, wired and wifi, is very close to published, which is equal or favorable to the ISP router - tested via nPerf.com. Wireguard and OpenVPN servers both working as expected and throughput sufficient to open video files on network shares. 5GHz showing 27dBm (set to 30dBm). 2.4GHz showing 28dBm (also set to 30dBm).

No issues so far.

Thank you Brainslayer.

ill say it one more time....NSS-ECM-SFE is not doing good with recent builds...in order to get WAN must be turned off...disabled...

no idea if it will work with gimmicks ...rather not... Cool

From an email regarding the MAC address fubar problem with @lexridge:
Quote:
I had to add this line to Startup to allow the wan get an IP on my bench ea8500:
Code:
ip link set wan type dsa master eth0

Not sure if it will be eth0 or eth1 in current releases, nor am I 100% sure this applies to use of NSS-ECM-SFE, etc. I thought this was already posted in open forum.

I do not see the announcement in the first post, and I think it's good to have testers, so...
Or do you mean I'm not supposed to use NSS-ECM-SFE in the first place, i.e. just ignore it?

What he is saying is that there seems to be an issue with NSS-ECM-SFE since the shift to using the DSA driver on R7800/XR500, EA8500, and similar devices that apparently everyone should already know about because he or someone else posted it. Rolling Eyes

Previous/Reset: some old dd-wrt / yes
Mode/Status: WAN Connection Type: Static IP, Static leases.
Issues/Errors: DHCP does not automatically assign IP addresses (either for LAN or wireless) if Services->Static Leases -> Hostname contains slash "/" or plus "+" characters (probably other characters)

example: MAC Address "00:11:22:33:44:55:66"
Hostname: FAN/HEATER
IP Address 192.168.1.5

I can still connect to the router if I manually assign the IP address and gateway on the PC.
DHCP start automatically assigning IP addresses when these characters are removed from the hostname.

Minor issue has popped up. Twice, with r61264, the httpd service has hung. I could not get any response from the WebUI. From the CLI, I did "restart httpd" which brought the UI back.

Syslog from my last reset (yesterday) attached.

Router/Version: Netgear XR500
Previous/Reset: 03-01-2025-r59964 / no

Issues/Errors: No internet with NSS-SFE, or slow internet with SFE disabled
Perhaps this may provide some clues:
(1) Disabled SFE in 59964 and installed r61264 from CLI. http didn't work until restart httpd from CLI.
(2) Internet speed with SFE disabled was slow (200 Mbps versus 460 before upgrade)
(3) Enabled NSS-SFE and no internet connection.
(4) - disabled SFE, and went back to previously fast & good r59964 with no reset, but still no internet.
- reboot again - still no internet.
- restore backup configuration (has NSS-SFE on), reboots, internet connects!
- speedtest 460 Mbps again.

I previously experienced similar slow internet speeds with r60791 and went back to r59964 (last configuration that I had an nvram backup).
