Hello all,
I currently have a location with 3 separate modems, each with ~100+ devices on 3 or more Ubiquiti AC Mesh devices. The issue is the modems can't hand out enough IP addresses and have no QoS.

I want to put a DD-WRT based PC in between the Mesh units, they are only APs, and the modem / router combo. That way I have more control over the network.

Hardware wise, I am looking to spend about <$200 CAD each computer. Can be used or new, as long as it works.

At some point I was told it had to be Intel 4th Gen or newer, is that still true?
Expect 65k connections and 100+ devices per computer.

I'm a big fan of those passive cooled mini PCs.
"Firewall appliance" in Amazon or Alieexpress usually show quite a lot of them.
But I've no Idea if an old N3050 Celeron is capable to deal with your 100 devices.

I've got a N4000 CPU in my, paired with 2* 2.5GBit/s intel 226-v. Nothing to complain, DD-WRT just works. But same as for the N3050, I've no idea if it would be able to serve 100+ devices.
My few (~1x) devices work fine with it.

The N100 appliances might/should do the trick, but are way more expensive in CAD as it seems :/.

Why 3 modems? Can they not be upgraded to one Broadband Connection?

Spend all on a beefier FW that is in front of all 3 modems.
