I got an used WRT1900AC v1 and trying to set it up as Wireless bridge on 5 GHz band with ISP provided dual band router which is a Nokia G-2425G-A. First try was the stock linksys firmware ver 1.1.10 and its wireless bridge mode will connect to 2.4 GHz band successfully, but when connecting to 5 GHz band it would always say 'unable to connect to upstream router, check your settings'. Suspecting firmware issue I flashed a DD-WRT version from April 2024 (just to be safe rather than going with latest beta) and tried setting up station bridge (routed), but to my surprise here also only 2.4 GHz will work for station bridge. 5 GHz will work as AP in stock Linksys firmware with no issues and internet, and in DD-WRT with station bridge on 2.4 GHz I can create a Virtual AP on 5 GHz to which devices can connect but no internet. Could it mean there is a hardware issue with 5 GHz radio, if so how would the 5 GHz AP mode work in stock firmware?

Attaching the configuration for 5 GHz band on the ISP router, anything that would point to a configuration issue?

I run Master-Slave on my Routers as WDS without issue but because you are not running Just Linksys I am not sure it is possible WDS has to be alike hardware to run but Basic Master-Slave should work with dissimilar hardware.

I have run my slaves as Client Routed in the past without issue.

This is solved now! What seems like a silly mistake now was driving me nuts for hours! Especially because the stock Linksys firmware was also failing to connect to 5 GHz band in wireless bridge/repeater bridge mode.

Having worked with DD WRT wireless bridge setup before only with Single band routers like WRT54G, wrt160n etc. I missed to setup the second part (wlan1 for 5 GHz radio) under wireless security tab Very Happy

All is good now!
