The internet connection for my devices seems to be only working when connected to VPN. First, I thought that my VPN had a kill switch enabled but it is not enabled. This seems to be the case for devices that don't even have VPN even installed. So, I am not sure what's going on. It leads to believe it to be something with dd-wrt settings but I don't have VPN enabled there. Any suggested settings I need to look at to get this working? I am running latest build (60697) for linksys wrt3200acm.

I humbly ask the following:
Who is your VPN provider?
Does the Status VPN tab show the VPN client is connected?

If I understand the above . . none of your devices can connect to the internet UNLESS the OpenVPN client is enabled in your DD-WRT OpenVPN Client settings?

In this case . . all devices can only connect when your DD-WRT OpenVPN Client is enabled?

If the VPN is NOT enabled on your DD-WRT router settings than . . where is a VPN enabled that is allowing your devices to connect?
Could it be possible that you do not have the DD-WRT VPN client enabled and you are actually connecting to the internet via the WAN connection by all devices?
You could check by going to https://ipleak.net/
If your address does not match the address/location assigned in your VPN provider setup file than you are probably not connecting via a VPN.
If you are using Wireguard than is the tunnel enabled? IF you want to bypass the VPN using either OpenVPN or Wireguard for certain devices you will need to set up the bypass. Do some research on doing that via PBR.
This has been fixed by disabling the following setting: Shortcut Forwarding Engine. Was this a new setting added to recent builds and is checked by default? I guess my router didn't support this.
