I've noticed this on the newer builds for at least a month but haven't been able to figure out why it's happening either

Fan is controlled (or should be) by the settings on the Services -> Services tab, under Hardware Monitoring. Having the fan on all the time isn't a bad thing. I have a USB fan pulling air through and out the top of my WRT3200ACM 24/7.

The issue is that in recent builds, the temperature threshold settings aren't being followed for whatever reason and the fan is constantly running at full power which is very loud. Normally the fan for this router is off and only runs when under extreme load, which is why for the later iterations of the wrt1900AC the fan was removed as it's essentially overkill.

Edit: I found a bug ticket here in case anyone else has this issue

Forwarded up the food chain. For clarity, Belkin wanted to save money is the reasoning for removal of the
fan after the original WRT1900AC routers. WRT1200, 1900ACS, 3200ACM, 32X are all Belkin-era models.

At least that's my take on the thing after looking at all the discussions over the years...

1900ACv1 back to 59045.

As with others, fan at full speed. I even tried resetting to factory defaults and still at full speed.

PBR still not working for me and has not been for a while. Rules no longer route around VPN for selected APs.

okay fan is running. whats the temperature? this is no bug report. i dont know your threshold settings nor your temperatures. i assume the fan is running because the temperature limit is reached.

I normally have temps set to 75/70

On 60697, I set temps to 95/90 and it's still on.

Under 59045, I currently have to set it to 55/50 to get the fan to come on.

Based on information in #7812 WRT1900AC FAN always on, the following commit should fix the issue in the next release:

Changeset [60706] by brainslayer fan control has changed since we are using dsa
