I was thinking of trying to DD-WRT to see if it would work. Pepwave MAX BR1 Mini LTE. This unit was an RMA so I cannot purchase the Wifi as WAN option, which makes it almost useless for me. Cannot find it's chipset or compatible or close to DD-WRT. Not worried about bricking since it will go in the trash anyway. Anyone have suggestions, more info or which version of DD_WRT to try?

Device is not supported, but if this is the correct FCC ID internal photos link, looks to be Atheros-based:

Support is only guaranteed by a hardware donation to the lead developer. You can't expect to magically pick an existing firmware image that will work and unofficial support methods usually end up with a mixed bag of results, anyway.

Verified internal componets. Antheros AR9344-DC38. Tried several firmwares from Peplink website. They will load and dashboard show some stuff but still no Wan Wifi access. Odd but ok. Have tried several DD-WRT firmwares and Pepwave sees it as incompatible and does not load it. Not sure if I am doing something wrong but was worth a try. Any feedback is welcomed.

I would gladly donate one of my older Pepwaves if it means we can start getting firmware for them. I didn't know this was an option. Pepwave nickel and dimes the crap out of their products. They basically sell you a brick and then make you pay for licensing for each feature you want.

Where can I donate my equipment to make this happen?

EDIT: Found the info! This is great!

Serial console output, verification of flash / RAM size, and a fullflash dump. It may not even be worth the bother if it doesn't have at least 8-16MB flash or more. Of course, the LTE function probably won't be supported even if we're lucky enough to get something. I will say that the focus is on Wifi6/6E development, so don't hold your breath.
