lceron, here are the measurements:

My JTAG WRT cable header = 12 mm x 5 mm (5 pins x 2 rows = 10 pin header)
WRT610N PCB header slot = 9 mm x 3 mm (7 pins x 2 rows = 14 pin header)

shit i didnt check this before.

standard is 2,54mm pin spacing
this seems to be 2mm pin spacing cause of integration and low space on the board.

you will need some build adapter. but you can get the parts everywhere.

Sure enough, RadioShack do not carry this smaller header, all they have are ones that I got with the cable - 2.54mm.

It would definitely need either 1.5 or 1.27 mm header similar to the connector in the attached image.

I'm gonna check out Digikey, Bird333.

Well, after much frustration I can confirm that the JTAG connector on the left side, and the one in the center are for their respective WLAN chips, and not for the primary processor.

I haven't made my way over to the third and final connector yet, but I've tediously poked wires into all of the little holes and connected them to my USB JTAG adapter. Yay... :roll:

So far the first two JTAG's I've connected to yielded the following result...

Broadcom Part NotFound 4322
IMPCODE 0000
DMA supoorted

...which indicates the BCM4322 WLAN controllers.

No luck getting the USB JTAG software to work with the flash... Maybe I'll just bite the bullet and desolder the TSOP. :-/ Has anyone else made any progress?

I've got the JTAG talking to the flash, but only the first 4M. I'm trying to fix the software to make it talk to the entire 8M now...

So the good news is that JTAG definitely appears to be working and that the flash is accessible...the bad news is I know have a brick! Yay for experimental settings!

hey tornado we are trying to get a backup of the cfe and nvram, however the pin count on the 610n is 14 not the usual 10 on the other models. i have gone to my parts store. they don't carry to 14 pin header. they only carry 16-30 headers... the spacing of the pins is smaller also... _________________ e3200 stock <- waiting for support wrt400n v26 std with modded antennas
