Update: 21 Jan 2025. MR5500 59171

Configured as a second network and functional
(Main Router eth to DDWRT WAN, WAN auto config - detects properly, DHCP on the seperate network - using stock ddwrt 192.168.1.x)

WPA2 Personel & WPA3 Personal
CCMP-128, CCMP-256, GCMP, GCMP-256 all selected

2.4 network stays on for a few minutes. Connection stays - no data transfered, even connecting to DDWRT Router. Tested channels 1, 6 and 11.

5.0 network. Stable, functional, good speed - actually typing on it now. Set to channel 100

@lexridge: I was able to go to advanced and disabled 11b, kept in Mixed mode, then rebooted router; No change. I then set the Security to AX only and again rebooted router; no change still stopping data with connection. Connects for about 2 minutes then all data stops.

I have disabled the 2.4 radio for now while I am testing this router - and trying to learn how to set up my vpn on it and / or tor for certain mac addresses.

Today, on official software, 5GHz radio just stopped working. I have made a reset and in result 5GHz doesn't run and I lost internet connection, but web panel says that it has connection.
This device is really weird.

I gave up for now with the MR5500, it is far too unstable. At the moment I do not have another router DDWRT compatible. I will watch and see what develops. The MR7500 looks like a possibility but, the limiting 512 MB ram seems too low for a 6E router to me (I am definitely not a network guru so, take that with a grain of salt)

MR7350s are cheap on ebay (used) and sometimes cheap refurb's on amazon. I ditched my 5500s when I realized their builds were too WIP for my needs. The 7350 doesn't have 4x4 streams but apparently has better chips. I have two running and they have been very stable since I set them up 1mo ago. Just throwing out a similar option if you need something in the interim while waiting for a 6E setup.

thank you. i have seen that. This could be good for others reading. Right now I have AX3000 with Merlin firmware and have been looking to get back into DDWRT. I am waiting to see what develops. In the mean time i am waiting to see if the MR5500 becomes more developed to test. With that said - I am looking >= AX3000 that I can grab on ebay or something.

I was expecting some hickups since the AX routers are pretty much - newly supported. And what i read had buggy SDK's
