Hi,

I would like to flash an old router of mine for VPN usage. I found the model I have (https://dd-wrt.com/support/router-database/?model=WL342_v2) but it only contains a "recovery image" and a "webupgrade". Guides online tell me to use a .chk file. Additionally, it tells me I need the "ESR-9752 firmware"?

Before I brick my router or anything, can I use the "recovery image" as a substitute for the .chk file, and flash my router that way?

Thank you Very Happy

See the forum guidelines with helpful pointers about how to research your router, where and what firmware to download, where and how to post and many other helpful tips:

But it looks like this router is too old and underpowered for any meaningful VPN

4MB Flash, 16MB RAM. No VPN support. Also requires serial flash. This is not a rebranded Netgear product, don't know where you read that you needed a .chk file.

Sitecom WL-342 (rebadged Senao ESR-9752-SC) Support? - pg 4

Ah... so it's too old. Shame. Thank you both anyway before wasting my time on this! Wink
