Try changing the Channel to 100. Channel 36 may not have enough bandwidth.

I will have to look when I get home, but I don't know if the nomenclature has undergone changes over the past several years or not. This thread leads me to believe that 80 MHz option is correct. You can check the wireless status page for 5GHz and it should show VHT80.

I changed to 100-5500mhz (24dbm)
still do not have VHT80 as an option, only 80mhz

80 MHz and VHT80 are one and the same. Channel 36 does have the bandwidth as long as you choose UU as the extension channel. I used to operate that exact router model on 36 at 80 MHz.

However, unless you are in a very short-range, low-interference environment, you will likely get more speed out of 40 MHz or, if you really need more range or have really bad interference on 40, 44, and 48, you may even want to try 20 MHz. It's a myth that more bandwidth equals more speed. You need to remember that speed is also heavily influenced by signal-to-noise ratio, and when you double the bandwidth, you drop the SNR by 3 dB. That 3 dB can make a world of difference. And that's before we even consider how many more of your neighbors interfere with you when you use the higher bandwidths.

So, while I started my WRT1900ACSv2 life at 80 MHz on 5 GHz, I now use 40 MHz. I get more range and more speed.

Curious observation: When I look at my interference environment with linux tool LinSSID (excellent tool), I see that every 5 GHz signal in my neighborhood is set up for 80 MHz bandwidth. Apparently it's simply standard practice for the ISP installer techs who set things up for people. They cater to the myth, which assumes ideal conditions that basically never ever happen. I am the only one operating at 40 MHz. All those 80 MHz signals interfere with twice as many channels as 40 MHz signals would!
