I just ran into this after updating the firmware on my R9000 to v3.0-r58892 std (12/25/24).

I see wlan0 in Wireless Status tab, and it looks like it's working, but my wireless devices don't see the SSID.

Maybe there are some new things in this firmware that I need adjust. The only ones that stuck out as different from my prior version are the Switch Config tab and a new Roaming tab between Wireless Security and MAC filter.

I followed the steps in this thread to upgrade the firmware, but like the original poster the wlan0 still doesn't show as an available connection.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Since you wish to double-post, I split your original post out and deleted the other one. Again: You don't use the VLANs tab on the R9000/XR700.

I figured a separate post would get more views instead of one buried within an older post. Thank you for splitting the original. I disabled the vlan configuration.

Outside of hardware failures because of the craptastic design and construction of the R9000 and XR700, without seeing any of your wifi settings... I doubt anyone is going to have a precise answer for you.

Which settings would be most helpful to post?

Thanks

I just started from scratch. Reset Factory Settings. Reset Router. Install latest firmware image. Reboot. However, the firware version still had a 12/25/24 date on it, but the one I downloaded had 01/11/25 date. I tried a second time, but same result. Regardless, I'm still not seeing wlan0 broadcasted.

What settings can I post here, that might give some clues to what's going wrong?

Thank you

As kernel-panic69 mentioned, it's not clear if the hardware component (specifically relating to wifi) of your R9000 stops working, rendering any connection attempts futile.

The best logical approach to me would be flashing it back to Netgear OS (version R9000-V1.0.1.20) to see if wlan0 works.

You then can figure out where to go next.

Help others to help you in a voluntary forum. Cool

It doesn't seem to be taking the firmware. I tried installing the original firmware, and the message said successful, but it still says Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r58892 (12/25/24) at the top of the screen. I've tried a couple times.

Use nmrpflash to flash back to stock.

In case you need to hold hand, Cool the linked video may be useful.

Note: Version 1.0.1.36 is used in the linked video, while my experience was with 1.0.1.20. You can use either but NOT later unless someone has used and specifically recommended it.

It is understood that later Netgear s/w versions can make it difficult to flash alternative f/w like DD-WRT.

Good luck.
