Hello!

I'm trying to figure out what to expect of WAN bandwith on a fiber connection (1000/1000 Mbit/s).

Router is reporting around 350/650 Mbit/s (GUI Status/WAN/test). New Goobay cat. 7 cables (5 meters from fiber box).

I'm using VLAN tagging 101 on the WAN port (VLAN 7 guide here https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1283405#1283405).

Is there anything I can do or is it because of physical limitations on the fiber side (bending of cables etc.)?

If other people would report their finding from GUI/R7800/revision that would be great.

My revision in the signature.

Thanks,

You need ECM-NSS to get to 1 GHz LAN<>WAN throughput not sure if this also works for PPPoE.

You might also need to upgrade to the latest build

OK, so a new router with those attributes on the CPU?

Will upgrade to latest revision but it needs to be a clean one so will take time.

Still, isn't it strange that download is that much slower than upload? I would expect (and accept) 650/650 mbit/s...

Thanks,

The R7800 supports ECM-NSS (setup page, default is SFE but that does not cut it)

Run build r58753 (12/03/24)

Speed and stability have improved from the previous one.

also depend how do you test it..clients level.. Cool

otherwise the others advised new build and try NSS-ECM (basic set page SFE section)

new builds for R7800 are based on Linux kernel 6.1x and those yield different results than
the old builds for R7800, using kernel 4.9x..(last one was 53562)...
build with k 6.1x are not bad at all and contain vital updates...and security fixes...
and those are using the spare NSS cpu cores that ware not in use in the past (k4.9x)..
