I was browsing the svn.dd-wrt.com to try and find the html/asp files that contain all the help info for each individual ddwrt option on each page on the router gui interface. I know it is sparse and it may need some work so I'd like to help include more explanations for each option. I know the forum is a pretty good resource but that info can be added to the help file on the router webserver.

Can someone point me in the right direction on the svn to see where the source files for these are located?

thanks

The source tree is a kind of maze, I think it is intentional if you do not know the way you have to stay out (just kidding, your help is appreciated)

thanks for pointing me to this.. Is there a way for me to edit the english.js file on my router so I can test it?

And if the above is possible, the Contributing part of the wiki doesn't tell me how to submit the patch. Do I just submit a bug report and attach the patch?

Or by way of: https://github.com/mirror/dd-wrt/pulls - you'd need a github account, fork DD-WRT mirror repo, make your edits, test, submit. Much better if you can actually compile your own images. I don't think the .js files actually exist on the router...

I will have a look, and look for build procedures (if you can help point to right direction).. I would rather only pull down the section for the .js file(s) but I understand it would be best to check on the build that everything looks good.

For the content of these help items, what do you think is the best approach for content review and what I would think would be good for content vs what BS or you (or anyone who would want input) would think would be good? Would a text file with all headers + content for each tab/sub-tab presented be best first step?

Well, if you're going to take a month to respond, I can see how timely this is going to work. It is entirely up to you to figure out the build system unless sir @egc considers helping you. Any help I may give, someone will get upset and say that I'm promoting 3rd party services or some nonsense. Ticket with patch, GitHub is easier, toh-MAY-toh, toh-MAH-toh. Do what you choose and good luck.

I had something else written but chose not to write. Maybe you should have done the same. But thank you for writing back in such a fast manner.

Making pull request at the github is the best approach.

If you have a Broadcom Northstar router you can make a test build for yourself, see:
