|
Hello,
I apologize for my English, I read it better than I write it.
Google translate did the job, I hope it's understandable.
I have a LinkSys AC3200 router, which is often discussed here.
I've been waiting for fiber for a long time at home, with a minimalist Huawei 4G router, and now that I have it, I took out this old router bought second-hand to configure my local network.
The goal is to use the Free operator's box as a modem, configure it as a bridge (which I did), and use the AC3200 as my network router. The idea is also to keep the TV player services.
It is this last point that led me to install DD-WRT, to be able to configure an IPv6 in Slaac. I followed this tutorial: https://www.fly-the-planet.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=1337 And then this one, for the principle: https://blog.kulakowski.fr/post/openwrt-derriere-une-freebox-ipv6-dmz-et-bridge (the change of the Next Hop up helped)
This subject around the Ipv6 is not resolved, but it is not the most important for the moment.
I started a topic on a French forum about this:https://lafibre.info/remplacer-freebox/routeur-linksys-ac3200-sous-dd-wrt-derriere-freebox-pop/
I'm having problems with...wifi: Latency/response time problems, weak wifi (it emits less strongly than my 4G router, despite the 4 antennas (WRT004ANT), and covers a very weak range of channels compared to my neighbors' wifi networks, or the 4G box, despite my tests on the settings.
My DD-Wrt configuration is basic. I just configured ipv6 in SLAAC as in the tutorial above. The ethernet connection works very well. But the wifi is (almost) unusable.
So I started browsing this forum...
And there, I understood that I had not necessarily made the best choice of router.. And that following the information/firmware from the DdWrt documentation page was not a good idea: the information is much more up to date here, in this forum.
I have the firmware and Kernet: DD-WRT v3.0-r44715 std (11/03/20)/ 4.9.241
So I have to update to: 55 630 which seems to be the most stable version.
Should I follow the information here?
https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Installation
Where can I update from the GUI (Administration > Update)?
I saw that it was necessary to disable the SFE
I read that it was necessary to disable the 3rd wifi network (Are we talking about the Network with 2.4 AND 5ghz together?)
I went through and noted in favorites:

I am really torn between:
- Find a suitable DD-Wrt configuration with this router
- Switch to OpenWrt, but I think the problems will be similar, this router seems to be a problem everywhere with Wifi
- Buy a router under DD-Wrt or OpenWrt.
If I have to change, I switch to a wifi6 router, I have a pc intended for work that has this standard.
I don't need complicated configuration, but I want to be able to configure my network as I see fit if the need arises with new equipment for example...
I got computers quite late in my life, and I started with Vista. And then I quickly switched to Linux for 10 years, so I know a little about getting my hands dirty, and finally switched to Mac (With a 10 year old Macbook now), but when I'm looking for a solution, a program, my first instinct is always to turn to free software..I have nothing against tinkering a little, but I like it when it's simple and reliable on a daily basis.
Thanks for your return and help. |
