I went to restore my r7800 to a previous config, and it's a different firmware version. After the restore, it seems that it just reverts to factory defaults. I tried it again, and it does the same thing. Is this because the backed up version is an older version of the firmware?

The the older nvram backup pre-DSA implementation? It would've been easier just to roll forward and make necessary changes instead of resetting.

You may want to give specifics on what build the backup is from...

How do I know if it's the older nvram pre-DSA implementation? No clue what that is.
The backup is from r52894 and I am currently on 58389. Are you saying to just implement the changes from factory? Is there a way to read the settings from a backup file?

yes 58389 its older pre DSA and 'back up from old to a new' its not a nice thing to do..

better roll back to the old build restore backup, then upgrade to the 58389 and c how it works...
if router behaves funny...you can export to pdf your GUI router pages and than reset redial settings manually...

I think what applies more here is pre-Linux 6.1 implementation vs. pre-DSA.
DSA was introduced in 60771; last Linux 4.9 build is 53562 on Atheros.
