I think my Mesh under the wireless interface is a bit misleading. This is called Mesh simply because I created a "Mesh" label for wlan0 in the Networking tab. My other routers still show this as wlan0 because I didn't make that change there. Sorry for the confusion.

Try changing from 40mhz to 80mhz and change your network mode to AX/AC/N mixed. This must be identical on both routers.

Yes, WDS works on the mx4300. I have tested it myself. If you follow the dd-wrt WDS wiki, ignore the section on adding the MAC addresses under the wlanN-WDS tabs. This is not needed on Atheros.

Thank you for following up this topic, @lexridge.

I have tried the settings you suggested, 40 -> 80, AX -> AX/AC/N mixed. Still no luck. I even tried several different channels and still not good. Since the status page does show they are connected, I feel there is something else I need to do to make it work.

I decided to factory reset everything and start over by following @lexridge's step here https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=337154&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=105 (Posted: Mon Sep 16, 2024 20:55). After setting up this follow by wireless security setting with WPA3 Personal/SAE + CCMP-128 (AES). They start to talk to each other at 1200Mbps.
Nothing else are changed at this moment.

So, wireless mesh is working for you now? If you disconnect the node and move to another location in your house, the node and the devices that are connected to it work wirelessly?

@RainGater
No. I moved my discussion to the other thread, https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=337154. I didn't follow this thread closely.
The latest problem is DHCP does not work properly in mesh configuration.

I also see your name in openwrt forum. How is thing going on that project?
