R9000 - 2.4GHz broken since r50963

Hi, i had my Netgear R9000 running on r50927 for long time, then in February upgraded to r55109 and is the one i've been using so far without problems... or so i thought.

I didn't notice until a few days ago that the 2.4Ghz is broken (because i don't use it so much), close to the router i can get around 20Mbs, but if i go just a bit far it drops to 1 or 2Mbs and in the and 2nd floor is completely useless.

With r50927 i get around 60Mbs.

Today i tested r50963 which is the one right after r50927 and the 2.4Ghz is already broken there (i tried with upgrade 1st and then i also tried with reset).


Test from my PC (connected via lan cable to the R9000) to my Samsung S20FE5G (r50927):

Anyone else using R9000 seen the same issue with 2.4Ghz wifi?

I think you'd have the same probability of getting an answer from someone still running r55109 (09/Feb/24) on Netgear R9000 with similar experience of slow 2.4GHz as winning a lottery ticket.

That being said, you would have more chance of getting an answer if you have your R9000 running latest firmware version for obvious reason.

I have R9000 running r57753 (04/Aug/24) and and its 2.4GHz link gives me a top downstream speed of around 41Mbps on my Samsung Galaxy A12 smartphone.

BTW, i use DDWRT Firmware instead of VANILLA. See pic. for add. info.

Thank you, definitely things got better with r57753, i get around 50 Mbs, though still not as good as it was on r50927

ACK Timing 500 is wrong...try to use 450, 900 or 3150.. (im on 900)
also speed can vary clients to client are different...moreover testing with phone that usually don't have decent radios...may produce bad results...
For example my R9000 is fine...with 2.4Ghz and delivers decent performance and has a decent range...also to try, a different country domain...like PANAMA or CANADA..those use full TX power on 2.4ghz
Bear in mind R9000 is also know with overheating issues that affect radios and those are prone to burn out in time...its just its bad heat sink design...i usually set my internal fan to work non stop...with low temp values like 25-30 C and also have it in air-conditioned room, other users use a extra fans pointed on the top and ect... Cool last build i use on it is 57707 but will move on soon..just 57956 was Openssl buggy on my R7800 so, i didn't update the rest of my routers...R7800 is still on 57834 as those ssl problems affected my VPN client side...

Changing ACK Timing from 500 to 900 definitely made it better, now i can get 60Mbs just like i had with r50927.

Country i have PANAMA, 5GHz TX 30dBm, 2.4GHz TX 30dBm.

I never looked at the temperature before, and we are in summer so room temperature is usually above 30º, i just checked the R9000 temperatures just now and seems quite high for the radios:
