So I tried updating ddwrt to the latest last night and I left it running for 10mins. I tried to log back into dd-wrt but to no avail so I assumed it bricked. Went through the de-bricking tuts and still nothing. I only used the TFTP method.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I will attach a vid of the lights on the router as it seems to do the same every time and I have a screenshot of the TFTP log.

TFTP recovery is explained in detail here: https://openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/archer_c7#installation_or_restore_with_tftp

I often use a basic switch between the computer and the router I am trying to debrick. It never fails then. Windows networking may take to long get connected and you will miss the TFTP connection time.

Yes, I used a hex editor to change to F's and 0's, and still nothing.

If TFTP fails, and you are 100% sure you didn't do anything wrong...and you followed the recovery as it should, than serial is the only way...unless your router suffers from hardware corruption, bad flash chip and ect., than nothing can help...also check your PSU(Power Adapter) sometimes if this fails people believe router is bricked..too... as it will misbehave...

For serial recovery you'd need serial to ttl converter...lots of those on the market...

I did few times serial recovery on my 1043v2, here are few steps i did for my 1043v2, bear in mind as procedure is the same, some values are different and you have to estimate and change those in order to proceed to successful serial flash..(like tftp listening, factory firmware size and ect.

Ok, so I ordered a soldering station. Soldered a 1x4pin header in. Plugged in via USB to ttl all the lights came on and stayed on which is not normally like that. And nothing happens when I hold the wps to send the bin. Then I unplugged the USB serial ttl tried to power on without it and now it doesn't even power on so I guess it went from brick to perma brick. Time to buy a new one I guess?

Hmm-m if totally fried, that means, you must've connected the wrong voltage...5v instead of 3.3v and
usually you don't even need the USB to TTL power(voltage) neither you connect 3.3V
for serial you only need GRD and TX to RX, RX to TX and you are done...then power up the router with its own power supply...

The other option is you shortcuted some pins...check for bad connections...serial is a job that requires patience, reading and understanding...and a bit of a luck... Cool
