if people havent noticed. see also this new subforum for new devices i'm working on https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=59

of course all other platforms benefit from the work i'm doing on it. consider also to read about the new way vlan filtering works which i implemented as option for dsa supported routers. its different from the current vlan behaviour but makes use of the hw acceleration of the build in switches. documentation will follow up

I am eagerly looking forward to your test results, @Alozaros. My R7800 is still on build 60771, so I am falling behind. Until now every newer build resulted in a loss of WAN.

From what you described in the above, we have similarities in the setup of our R7800's, so I could benefit a lot from what you are able to find out.

I have port #4 on a bridge brV30 with a separate network for 4 special servers. Later I want to add a wireless VAP to this same network like I had at one time before (there's just 4 ports on the PoE switch connected to lan port #4 available).

I recently tagged both wan and lan port #4 with tag #30. It didn't make any obvious difference, but then I cannot see everything that is happening on my network, because I can only check what I know how to check ...

I have firewall rules to access the separate network on port #4 for administration from my workstation on the main network. I checked isolation of separate networks as best as I could.

There are also two VAP's for IoT and guests with their own dhcp server as well. They work. The IoT devices are just 6 smart switches with some hard wired addresses (DNA/NTP .. not 100% sure/checked). I real life there are no guests on this home network, ever Wink

I works as intended on build 60771 despite the switch GUI being gone, but beyond that ... In Networking under bridging on the newer builds I got pull-down lists with 'filtering' and more choices which put me totally out of my depth.

I had NSS-ECM enabled, but switched it off now per your advice, to be on the ready.

Unfortunately I am not very good at describing this setup concisely because of a lack of jargon & most of all understanding ...
This whole setup of mine has been built and improved upon over a long, long time, but now it's like there's a sinkhole in the road ...

we discovered a problem with pppd. i fixed that already in my tree. i hope i can push a new build tomorrow. does this fit to your problem

edit: i will remove the build now. its too important. i will do a new one tomorrow

people with access to my internal ftp will see it earlier

its fixed in r61198. small change, but big issue

for the vlans. you need to check the new options in networking page. its all a little bit different now. its based in linux bridge filtering now which allows to make use of the hw acceleration of the switch itself. so you dont need to configure the switch anymore. each switch port has now become a own interface which can be configured by your wish. just make sure to understand how vlan filtering works since now the main bridge (or any other you create became the switch).
you can still of course create vlans per port on lan1 or lan2. but for full potential its better to use the new vlan filter capabilities.

Oh this is good news Smile PPP is borked on my x86 in builds after 28th of april too. If it werent for your post I'd bit the bullet and test with older asus/linksys/netgear devices of mine.
Soooo I'll lean back and wont touch a cable, awaiting the next build Smile

Also regarding the new Switch subforum:
Will look into the devices listed there, since I want to upgrade my Network in the next few months. Maybe one of them suits my needs? Will report if so!

consider i just tested it on a zyxel gs-1900-48 so far. all these platforms are similar and most of them have serial connectors which is good for playing. so if you get it flashed it will work. i just cannot check all these devices yet for flashing procedure. so make sure you know what you are doing. so i dont expect big problems if there are any. just initial installation can cause questions since i was first working on these devices 3 years ago and i cannot remember all the tasks. but it wasnt complicated

Noted!

I'm not afraid of serial connections, just short on money currently. But already reading up the provided device list Smile
