How I use mac address clone is that I cloned the mac of my prior dd-wrt router so that I can use either interchangeably if the current one has a problem. This works well, no delay in getting back up. If I didn't do this then it could take up to 30 minutes to get a new connection. It's been a year since I've had to switch out the current router so if something changed I wouldn't know.
