Hello,
I recently installed DDWRT, but due to some bugs decided to uninstall it.
Since there was no Webvert for V4, I decided to opt for TFTP method.
After 10 days of trying TFTP, I gave up since I couldn't connect to my router's tftp, assuming if there is one in my router, no matter what I tried.
I read that V3 and V4 are basically same apart from adapter size, so I flashed the webvert file for V3.
It worked, apart from LEDs on my routers messing up a little.
However, I'm getting bad ping spikes now, upto a 1000ms, even on LAN. I checked if its ISP related but it isn't.

I tried to flash the v4 firmware from TPLINK panel, but it just says
"Upgrade unsuccessfully because the version of the upgraded file was incorrect. Please check the file name.
"
Obviously.
Current firmware version shows:
"Firmware Version:
3.16.9 Build 150312 Rel.59597n
Hardware Version:
WR940N v3/WR941ND v6 00000000"

Anyway, is there any way I can get a webvert file for V4?
Or someway I can flash a V4 firmware whilst running a V3 firmware?
and NO, TFTP still doesn't work.
short of selling my soul, I have literally tried EVERYTHING.

I'd really appreciate some help.
Thankyou.

It would've been better to have asked for a v4 webrevert file to begin with than going off half-cocked and doing something like this. I do not believe that the webflash file for the v4 will change the situation, but you can try. I also do not believe that a webrevert file for the v4 will fix this now, either.

Classic, flashed v3 on v4 because...

Even if this is true (its partially true because some hw addresses and initialization changed clearly by your description of issues) you have to know how to recover the router and listen to advice provided, seems you are intent on creating unsolvable situations for yourself.

Shortcuts like flashing v3 into v4's are great for experienced people who know how to get out of holes they dig themselves into, and not before making backups of their working flashchips/boot etc before adventuring into crazyland (we all do this but with backups and knowing how to get out of holes)... like what you did here is not advisable.

TFTP works fine if you stop for a moment and read the advice provided, that or go the serial recovery way as advised to you above.

Also reset reset reset nvram and upgrade to a v4 of the actual router latest official cve filled manufacturer firmware. failing that whats already been said to you across two threads.

Mod note: Links to router model information in the router database do not work. You should link the exact file in question. -kp69

I have a solution, if it is not too late for you:

1. Revert to stock (original) firmware v3 using the following webrevert file: DD-WRT Router Database https://dd-wrt.com/support/router-database/?model=WR941N(D)_3.x .
2. Upgrade to version 4 on the TP-Link router web interface using the original TP-Link firmware (from the TP-Link homepage). Error code 18005 will appear while trying to upgrade. Follow the instructions in the following video from about minute 10 to prevent this error code: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAqVgkVcgwo .

Done! Smile

No, that is likely NOT the file to try since this is about a WR940N, NOT a WR941N - the SoCs are completely different. If anything, you use the wr940nv3_webrevert.rar OR (preferably) wr941ndv6_webrevert.rar from LOM's Files for reverting from DD-WRT to STOCK FIRMWARE thread for webUI reversion solution OR you use TFTP. Please do not give such erroneous advice in the future. Topic locked until request to re-open by OP or anyone needing to comment or add solution. Your other post was deleted and that topic locked as well.

WR940N v3 is a WR941ND v6
