regarding: migrates IPQ806x from swconfig to DSA however VLAN configurations will not; no more Switch Config tab.

you simply dont need it anymore. you configure vlans per interface on the networking page. no extra switch configuration neccessary anymore. so this comment is simply telling that vlans will not work anymore. thats more than just a false claim

That note says you have to reconfigure when switching from swconfig to DSA.

I added this 390 days ago due to a valid concern from lexridge, who asked to add a disclaimer regarding this major change.
Maybe I should have further spelled it out for everybody regarding vlan config, but there were other threads explaining this.

Not sure what is going on here. I have largely taken a back seat after NSS broken reports have been ignored, until recently.
Possibility to revert to swconfig is welcome, allowing NSS acceleration! BTW, a properly configured NSS fq_codel is amazing.
When ISP overhead and NSS are correctly factored into calculations for queue limits, quantum, and MPU, it is night and day.

Thank you, exactly, to prevent those with vlan configs from blindly upgrading before learning the new configuration process.

i wont ignore them and its also not broken. i have just to think about it and how to handle it with dsa. in worst case i have to modify the nss firmware but this isnt a big deal since i have the firmware sourcecodes. just need a working toolchain for ubicom 8k

and one thing . i have a r7800 here with nss enabled. but it works in bridge mode but it is working. so it cannot be entirely broken

A perfect Schrödinger's response, this is great news! I thought we were bound to limitations of another black box situation.

Router Model: TP-Link TL-WR841ND v11
Firmware Version: DD-WRT v3.0-r65079 std (05/20/26)
Kernel Version: Linux 3.18.140-d6 #266428 Wed May 20 12:26:51 +06 2026 mips
Previous: r65002, update via WinSCP + CLI
Reset: Yes
Status: Working OK as AP, N-Only, HT20
Issues: None

I hope it's not placebo but I think the QoS latency on Upload side had a dramatic drop. I know that my bufferbloat tests vary a lot depending on the noise in wifi neighborhood but this change I think is beyond being a "lucky day". I was used to get in general 600-700 ms latency on Upload. A couple of firmwares ago dropped to 300-400 ms range. Now I see something in 20-50 ms range, which is very close to Download side latency (20-25 ms). I don't think that all my neighbours moved out suddenly, I think something has significantly changed for the better with the firmware.

Thanks a lot BS!!!

SmartDNS doesn't want to use quic...no idea if it is related with upstream issue or local..to me, it seems like local, as every time, i try it, it throws that big red error...

Code:
└─cat /tmp/smartdns/smartdns.conf
bind :6053
serve-expired yes
log-size 32K
log-num 1
log-level warn
cache-size 3000
log-file /tmp/smartdns.log
ca-file /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt
ca-path /etc/ssl/certs/
server-quic 9.9.9.9

also tried with server-quic 9.9.9.9:853 -host-name dns.quad9.net -tls-host-verify dns.quad9.net -host-ip 9.9.9.9 same big red error

syslog

SmartDNS doesn't want to use quic...no idea if it is related with upstream issue or local..to me, it seems like local, as every time, i try it, it throws that big red error...

Code:
└─cat /tmp/smartdns/smartdns.conf
bind :6053
serve-expired yes
log-size 32K
log-num 1
log-level warn
cache-size 3000
log-file /tmp/smartdns.log
ca-file /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt
ca-path /etc/ssl/certs/
server-quic 9.9.9.9

also tried with server-quic 9.9.9.9:853 -host-name dns.quad9.net -tls-host-verify dns.quad9.net -host-ip 9.9.9.9 same big red error

can ypu submit this to upstream on github? it can be also a format issue with your crt file since its crahshed in openssl

well.. i will do so...bare in mind nothing wrong with my certificate file /crt its the one that comes along after reset, the default one for DDWRT... as i tested it after full reset and bare config...with same results...
if i use tls or https it works...only quic and doh3 are crashing ...
will contact the chap and will let you know....

quic is working on the older build 62606..but yep SmartDNS have had some updates ever since... Cool
