Hi everybody,

I have successfully mounted a pair of NTFS 2.5" HHDs on my x86's USB3 hardware ports running DD-WRT v3.0-r56029 std (04/27/24).
Everything seemed to run flawlessly according to Sharing through NAS configuration etc.
To make the long story short, I started an ~13 hours long multimedia files backup procedure from my windows 11 system to one of the DD-WRT attached HDDs. Unfortunately after a 1-2hours of continuous copying, I get an error message due to an unexpected unmount of both HDDs.
The only solution I have found is to manually detach-reattach the HHDs and so on and so forth every a couple of hours.
Is it something normal or Ι have to make some kind of adjustments to overcome it?

Best Regards.

Format the drive as EXT4 rather than NTFS.

It looks like that EXT4 was the solution.
2½ hours now non-stop copying! Very Happy

You can give an update to your other post here, how you made the USB3 ports working.

Could help other folks running into the same problem.

Dear Sp1derman thank you for your intervention.

You are right about posting it as a solution but I hesitated to do so before having a bit more conclusive evidence about.

Unfortunately, the problem persists and the previous resolution might have been a fluke 😊

It might be useful to mention that when I attach the same HDDs on the USB3 of my Access Point (ASUS RT-AC68U) I have no such disconnection issues.

Anyway, after performing some search about this issue, I located the topic “Prevent Harddisk Spindown” in dd-wrt wiki tutorials.

I followed the instructions for Harddisk Spindown prevention with the use of sdparm command and finally my system returned the following results

IDLE_B 0 [cha: n, def: 0, sav: 0]
IDLE_A 0 [cha: n, def: 0, sav: 0]
STANDBY_Z 0 [cha: y, def: 1, sav: 1]
IACT 0 [cha: n, def: 0, sav: 0]
SZCT 600 [cha: y, def:18000, sav:18000]
IBCT 0 [cha: n, def: 0, sav: 0]
ICCT 0 [cha: n, def: 0, sav: 0]
SYCT 0 [cha: n, def: 0, sav: 0]
CCF_IDLE 0 [cha: n, def: 0, sav: 0]
CCF_STAND 0 [cha: n, def: 0, sav: 0]
CCF_STOPP 0 [cha: n, def: 0, sav: 0]-sh: CCF_STOPP: not found

I am still checking if the problem is resolved or not.

BTW I according to the wiki the SZCT(?) PARAMETER should have CHANGED TO
[cha: n, def:18000, sav: 0] (please check the attached pic).

Any recommendation from anybody will appreciated.

Best regards

update to the previous topic:
After giving "sdparm --flexible -6 -v -S -p po --set=SZCT=0 /dev/sdd"
but still "sav" not zeroing. (SZCT 600 [cha: y, def:18000, sav:600])
