A small addition about copying files via the SMB protocol: I changed the name of the Workgroup on my third-party server, previously they were the same. Now copying files over the network is faster and does not reboot the router.

Router: Linksys WRT1900ACSv1
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r55179 std (02/24/24) from r53633
Kernel: Linux 6.1.78 #305 SMP Sat Feb 24 05:43:06 +07 2024 armv7l
Reset: No
Issues/Errors: Router still reboots with SMB file transfers.

I was hoping that there was something to changing the name, but changing the name on the router or my computer didn't help. The router has NAS/SMB server enabled and I can connect to the share on the attached USB drive. However, on trying to transfer a file (33KB JPG file) from my computer, the router reboots. I know this is different than having a separate SMB server from the router, but I was hoping changing the name would help. It did not. Reverted back to 53633 because I use it as a file server.

Is BS aware of this issue or has there been a bug open already? Good to know it's not just me and that there appears to be a bug with 6.1.

Change(s) (to smbd?) after 1/2/24 r54682 are causing my WRT3200ACM to reboot when transferring via SMB (from Windows 10) to flash drive attached to router. When copy progress hits 99%, it freezes and router reboots. (same transfer via FTP works properly) After reboot, when smb is again accessible, it seems the file finished transferring successfully before the reboot. r54682 and earlier have been working properly over many years.

Router: Linksys WRT32X
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r55179 std (02/24/24)
File: ddwrt-linksys-wrt32x-webflash.bin
Kernel: Linux 6.1.78 #305 SMP Sat Feb 24 05:43:06 +07 2024 armv7l
Previous/Reset: DD-WRT v3.0-r55109 std (02/09/24) / No
Mode/Status: Gateway (PPPOE, ignore WAN DNS, non-default router IP, SFE disabled), WAN to ONT, AP, wlan0 5GHz AC-only VHT80 WPA2-Personal-CCMP, wlan1 2.4Ghz N-only HT40 WPA2-Personal-CCMP, wlan2 disabled, DDNS (SSL), encrypt DNS (DNSSEC, check unsigned DNS replies), virtual interface (2.4GHz, unbridged, AP isolation, net isolation, DHCPD, web UI disabled), ssh (non-default port, public key, password login disabled), wireguard server (non-default port, preshared key) / Uptime 60 hrs.
Issues/Errors: With SFE enabled, experienced random router crashes, especially if router is under load. Disabling SFE appears to have stopped the crashes.

Finally had time to get back to this (been out of town) and tried 54682 on my wrt1900acs. On attempting a file transfer to an attached USB drive partition formatted with FAT32, the file would not transfer and I got an error (using macOS 14.3.1) but at least the router did not reboot. However, that drive also has partitions formatted in EXT2 (for /opt and /jffs) and all file transfers were successful without reboot. So works with EXT2 partitions and not with a FAT32 partition (at least for the current macOS). I'll keep trying the newer builds as they come out in hopes the issues are sorted out. Thanks for the help.
