I don't seem to see a VPN username field in DD-WRT in the WireGuard area of the firmware with the build I'm using. I remember it being there with a previous build that I was using, but not DD-WRT v3.0-r53662. How do I get it to appear? My new VPN provider requires it.

WireGuard does not require a username.

Maybe you are confusing it with OpenVPN which can require a username (and the OpenVPN client GUI has an optional username input box).

WireGuard and OpenVPN docs can be found in the Advanced Networking forum

I'm not confusing anything. With the previous build of DD-WRT I was using from October of 2021 which is when I got this router, there was a VPN username field in WireGuard with DD-WRT that I was entering because TorGuard required it. It was my email address.

WireGuard works with keys.

There really is not and never has been a vpn username with WireGuard.

However there is a username for OpenVPN.

Have a look at the documentation.

Only the TorGuard desktop / mobile app requires username and password.
Otherwise, it's a matter of exporting the configuration from your
TorGuard account and importing it into DD-WRT.

I was confused. I was remembering the part of the TorGuard website where you generate the WireGuard config file. The username is entered there (email address), not in DD-WRT.
