Hello,
I have a question that I hope someone can help me with. I have a Motorola mr2600 router that appears to be identical internally to the D-Link DIR-882 which is supported by dd-wrt. In theory I was thinking that since they are identical then it shouldn't be a problem with flashing my motorola with the d-link file. Is this a correct thought or not. I have included the wiki tech info. Thanks for any help..much appreciated.

DD-WRT does not support cable modem routers. The router parts may function, but the cable modem will not.

Sorry I didn't make it clear but this is a stand alone wireless router which is plugged into my cable modem via ethernet cable. The motorola mr2600 wireless router is a separate piece which I purchased from amazon. Sorry I didn't clarify this in original post.

Ok, I must've misread and didn't click to further investigate. If you do not have a means of recovery in hand, I would not recommend attempting to flash your router. Caveat Emptor applies when doing this kind of thing.

DD-WRT does work on the Motorola MR2600 using the firmware for the DLink DIR-882. I followed these instructions and they were spot on:

http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=73607.0

I ended up flashing an older build so that I can use it as a repeater bridge (v3.0r-38159). From what I understand the 4.xx kernel builds do not have/support that particular functionality. They do work though, assuming you are not trying to use it as a repeater bridge.

More about that here: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1178361
