Hello,

I use my router as client mode and VAP.
Router: Tp-LINK TL-WR841N v9

how can I assign wan port to act as switch port (yellow ports) ? Because I need to have five ports and want to use BLUE(WAN) port as LAN port (yellow).
This was able to do in older builds from 2019 year.

Assign wan port to switch is missing in lastest builds but I need to get it, how?

Best regards,

Not at all because the WAN port on this router is not connected to the switch, see >

https://openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr841nd

Quote:
eth1 is directly connected to the WAN port.

If you set the "WAN Connection Type" in the "basic setup" tab to disabled then eth0+1 should be bridged with br0.
Should then also function as LAN port

Thanks for your response.
So I need to use older build if I need WAN port to act as LAN in my configuration ?
Or use newest builds without possibility to use WAN port as LAN ?

Bottom line in newer builds it is done automatically (there are a few low end routers which need some manual tweaking as @ho1Aetoo explained)

Warning: a lot of routers have a 4 port + 1 switch so although it will mimic a five port switch when the WAN is disabled, performance via the WAN port is less so do not use it unless you really have to (and better do not use it as a trunk port)

If only people searched for information first.

Assign WAN Port To Switch Question

"Assign WAN port to Switch"- is the feature needed

R7000 - AP-Mode - Assign WAN Port to Switch without function

@dale_gribble39

thanks for the effort but the links are outdated and do not help at all....

With the vast majority of routers, you can easily configure it in the "Switch config tab".

1 CPU Port > https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1284536#1284536
2 CPU Port > https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1283406#1283406

But not with routers like the TL-WR841N v9 because the WAN port is not connected to the switch.
