Hi there. I'm new to set up a VPN router.
I flashed my Archer C7 v2 and it has DD-WRT v3.0-r52596 std (05/18/23) now.
I purchased CyberGhost VPN subscription and followed its set up instruction to set up my router as an OpenVPN Client, but can not get it connected.
During the setting up, I found that there are some items which are in the DD-WRT set up page, but not in CyberGhost VPN's OpenVPN Router setting up instruction. There are also items in CyberGhost's instruction but not in DD-WRT setting up page. Here are they:
(1) Not in CyberGhost's instruction but in DD-WRT setting up items:
CVE-2019-14899 Mitigation (Enable)
Set Multiple Servers (Disable)
First Data Cipher (CHACHA20-POLY1305)
Second Data Cipher (AES-256-GCM)
Third Data Cipher (AES-256-CBC)
Inbound Firewall on TUN (unchecked)
Killswitch (unchecked)
Watchdog (Disable)
Source Routing (PBR) (Route All Sources via VPN)
Verify Server Certificate (unchecked)
PKCS12 Key (Disable)
(2) In CyberGhost's instruction but not in DD-WRT setting up page items:
LZO Compression: (Disable)
Firewall Protection: (Enable)
IP Address: (leave blank)
Subnet Mask: (leave blank)
nsCertType verification: (Leave unchecked)
Please see the attachments.
Because these differences, I think these parameters are not set correctly.
My question is: Are these parameters important for connecting?
All other parameters are set exactly as instructed, but can not connect to CyberGhost VPN's OpenVPN server.
Most VPN providers' guides are not quite updated. Did you check the guides on the forum?
