Guys
not used my r7800 for a while and would like to dust it off and use if for sharing 2 ntfs usb drives for network storage BOTH 2tb
i have a few questions but i will do my research on the forum to get to the endpoint.
my router is currently flashed with V3.0 build 36698 and i want to flash with a new build that supports 2TB NTFS drives and share across my network.
the first problem i have is if i set my R7800 as an access point leaving my HUB 4 router in place i cannot seem to get it to update via web GUI. i use one of the bin files and it just stays on the please wait screen ands never seems to complete no matter how long imleave it. the routwr lights never change.
is this due to the netgear not having the wan setup, i am not sure and scratching my head.

Download that build to your PC client and then you should be able to upload the bin file via the GUI. Important do NOT use "Reset to Factory Defaults" while upgrading
Coming from such an old build a reset to defaults *after* update is mandatory.
If that does not work also reset to defaults before upgrading (and then again after)
Flashing via the command line is possible but first try this.

Should it take more than the 3 minutes to flash if I am connected direct to the router via Ethernet as it doesn’t appear to be doing anything.
If loading from the bin file I am guessing you don’t need an internet connection if loading from the gui?
Thanks

You do not need an internet connection, from the GUI you browse to your .bin file on your computer.
that file is uploaded to the router and installed.
It takes about 30 sec to upload and then it will start to install which takes about 3 minutes.
After 3 minutes refresh your GUI and see if you are greeted by the login screen.
If not wait another 2 minutes and then power cycle the router.
Ok I am trying again after a default to factory and a reboot, connected to router on 192.168.1.1 browsed to downloads and selected the file you linked to. Pressed upgrade and it is counting down currently at 60 seconds left.
Router lights have not changed during the process, should I get a flash completed messages or do you just have to refresh the page once the timer has completed
Sorry for the problems I am normally ok with things like this.

You can refresh the page once the timer has complete.

Great to hear you got it working do not forget to reset to defaults and put settings in manually, never restore from a backup (to a different build)
Attached my personal notes about USB etc.
It is possible to attach two harddisk but it is possible that after a reboot they do not always use the same mount point.
There is a script to mitigate that but I think it is only for ext2/ext4, but I do not have it handy at the moment.
