I have noticed that folowing devices does not connect via WiFi:

Raspberry Pi
Espressif IoT devices

However my phone and laptop connect without a problem.

When I try to connect I briefly can see at the wireless status page that a Legacy device wants to connect but it seems that it get no IP address from DHCP.

Are these known issues and what to do to prevent WiFi issues?

Pretty sure s/Expressif/Espressif.

https://www.espressif.com/

Without knowing exact build/configuration of wifi on what router, we would be grasping at straws.

Yep you are right Espressif I correct it.

My router is a Netgear Nighthawk R7800 installed DD-WRT v3.0-r52095 std (03/23/23)

With the R7800 official Netgear firmware these devices connects without a problem.

post a picture of your advanced 2.4ghz settings.

Likely you may need to disable LDPC under the advanced settings (Disable for ESP8266 chipsets)

I have a light string outside that uses ESP chips and don't have any issues with LDCP enabled.

I am using vanilla drivers, fwiw.

On my R7800's IoT network (2,4 GHz only) I have one Blitzwolf smart plug with a MAC pointing to Espressif, Shanghai. Under Advanced settings LDPC is enabled (probably by default).
The 2,4 GHz wireless is at N/G Mixed and Full, 20 MHz bandwidth.

I used to have the 2,4 GHz wireless on auto channel, but a few days ago I fixed it at channel 11.

There are but a few other users around here, part of the time, but auto always left my wireless partly overlapping other signals, and in addition auto channel is not recommended ...

AFAIK, this smartplug with Espressif has always connected OK. When it was in a cabinet and a little bit further away, it did sometimes lose connection temporarily.
As it was only intended to measure power consumption of a new refrigerator, that was not a big thing. My other three smartplugs of the same brand and model have a different WiFi chip manufacturer, so there's no statistic ...

Change Firmware to Vanilla- Those drivers seems to play nice with more clients than do DDWRT drivers.

Disable U-APSD, let the client manage the power saving and not force it from the router end. Industry adoption of this setting is debatable- so don't bother using it.

Ack Timing- Don't use 0="Auto" use a hard number. I suggest 1800 or 2250, but I personally use 3150 to avoid cheap clients from blasting out my router signal with shorter timing.

Noise Immunity- Try toggling this one last after doing the above first. I use it on my settings.

Make those changes and reboot the ESP devices too, and things should start to magically work again.

Unfortunately it still refuse to connect.

What about the Wireless Security, could that be the culprit ?

See the sticky in this forum about best Wireless settings:

It recommends (among other things):

All seems to work now although I have to do some more tests.

Espressif devices connecting without a problem Very Happy

The Raspberry Pi does also connect at 2.4GHz but not on 5GHz.

So I guess the 5GHz wireless settings are not okay for the Raspberry Pi.

Thanks you for the help to identify the issue and solve this problem.

I will post the wireless settings from my 5GHz and mabe this get also been solved.

What are the current wireless settings? Never mind old screenshots TurboQAM Disable, Firmware Type Vanilla,
U-APSD Disable, Protection Mode None, RTS Threshold Disable, Beacon 200, DTIM 1, Airtime Fairness Disable,
ACK Timing is 450 increments, default 500 is 900. Use 1350 as middle ground, distant low signal clients 1800.

Security, WPA2 Personal and CCMP-128 (AES) checked only. 802.11w Management Frame Protection Disabled.
