A little favorite my R7800 has started doing since upgrading from r49838 is this below. I was wondering if anybody may have experienced the same or give me any pointers as to what is happening. Seems to be a daily occurrence, which eventually leaves the router requiring a reset, or it resets itself. I have tried r52306 and r52369 since, both having the same issue.

Thanks

You use the word reset in your post, but perhaps mean reboot.

Have you reset (erased) router settings after upgrading from the very old build to a current build?

You could make PDF page prints of all relevant GUI pages in a browser first. Expand all advanced settings and text fields, so everything is visible as PDF print are wysiwig.
Text fields can then be copied as they are from the PDF files.

Might be solved in next build:

@ArjenR49
Sorry yes, I mean reboot, although sometimes it reboots, sometimes it hangs completely and sometimes it's only the ath10k_pci firmware that crashes, but leaves me able to get the logs back.

@egc
Thanks for that. Fingers crossed.

In the mean time, unless you have done it already, while we wait for a new build, you should reset the router to defaults and redo all settings. Otherwise there's no telling what the latest build will do for you.

I have an R7800 on the current latest build, 52369, and haven't experienced problems with WiFi.

I did have an issue lately, but that was because in my setup the reserved ip table was entered into the startup process very late which started to cause problems for dnsmasq after updating from 52306. Anyway that was the hypothesis.

I moved the reserved ip options to additional settings (same format, so very straightforward to do) and things are ok again.
Some router startup timing may have changed to cause that issue for me.

It's such a pity R7800's aren't being made any longer.

So true, but there is the XR500 which is an R7800 but with some more ram but much too expensive Sad

I will give it a go setting up from scratch.

Mine is running quite a lot of bits and pieces, which all could be playing a part, although I didn't experience the issue until I upgraded.

Currently have lighttpd hosting a Wordpress site, using MariaDB, PHP etc through Entware. a Swap partition for additional memory, as well as a Wireguard Tunnel & Transmission and running a few additional port forwards etc to accomodate these, So any of these could be contributing too.

yep quite of a heavy load...and the swap too..

Personally tend to avoid running unnecessary stuff or any of those that you can have on a PC instead...Transmission and web server and ect...
Routers are simple things, for simple operations and don't have the same power/specs like PC..
In most of the cases, when out of resources or power...first is the radio to hang...check you power adapter too..
For such a complex set up you'd need a mini box PC to run x86 version of DDWRT, lots of those on a decent price...on amazon or ebay..

@Alozaros

While I agree that it would be better just letting the router route, I do have this habit of ignoring the phrase 'just because you can, doesn't mean you should'.

Requesting several fairly intense pages at once, this is about as bad as the resources situation seems to get.

I have set up from scratch this morning, so I will await and see what happens now.

I did change my DNS last night so the router would be sat idle, and it still managed to die even with nothing much going on.

Yes, on the removed screenshot you can see that wlan1 is not running in AP mode but in Station mode.
In addition, all sorts of other garbage runs on the router.

Maybe you should give a concrete description how the router is configured.

There are many users who have no problems at all and we are very bad at guessing.

The router connects my network to a public network. All of my outgoing packets are routed through a Wireguard tunnel over the public network.
