Ive got a Netgear R7000 and its being working great for the last couple of years.
I have an opportunity to purchase a R9000, will I experience any signifcant improvements expecially for viewing IPTV?

I second blkt R9000 could care lots of underwater stones, although it has more power than R7000, it has bad heat sink design..easy to fail/burn radios and tempting switch ports if you want to set VLAN's...where R7800 is still the best price/performance and support DDWRT router _________________ Atheros

Thanks for your responses...well the R7900 is $130 and R7800 is around $100.
The R7800 has openwrt installed, can this be flashed with DD-WRT. Considering the prices is the R7800 still a better buy? Or do I just keep the R7000?
BTW any special instructions to flash over openwrt? Which DDWRT file do I use to flash, the bin or img file?

I dont know of any support of R7900 or you mistyped R9000...
Yes R7800 still holds the top place for DDWRT supported router...
For R7800 first flash to DDWRT factory-to-ddwrt.img ...
Than for any other update of DDWRT, via DDWRT web interface use the dd-wrt-webupgrade.bin
Ive no idea if OpenWRT will let you flash via its web interface dd-wrt-webupgrade.bin try first..if not happening, you may need to flash it via TFTP, which is very easy... if this is the case...
I did few switches to OpenWRT and back to DDWRT back in the days, but i used TFTP as it was easy... _________________ Atheros

The procedure is usually,
openwrt > stock > dd-wrt
dd-wrt > stock > openwrt
and for something like this I always flash directly via TFTP
yep I agree this is the safest way of doing it...and this should be done...
Just because im naughty, i skip the stock step and flash factory directly...via TFTP..
recently tried the last Kong build for R7800 with nss to see if its better, but went back to DDWRT... _________________ Atheros
