udhcpc -i usb0 gets ip address, but ip address doesn't stick to "ifconfig usb0". Android tether tutorial not working since r51140, not sure what console commands are to manually assign wan adaptor dhcp status to usb0 android tether.

I asked once before..did you try to select usb as the wan interface at the web interface.network settings and gave it dhcpd..you never came with answer...so, to me its like abandoned ship...
and you are correct if it was working at 51140 and than stopped..if its not form your side than look at svn track for changes that may affected it..it not an easy game but its your game... _________________ Atheros

Hi Alozaros, I've just stuck with the exact tutorial, with auto dhcp for wan interface on the basic setup page.
Ie, I guess, totally automatic, so something like "udhcpc -i usb0" should auto reconfig wan access etc, ideally?
Re "WAN Port assignment" I see a lot of options but not usb0. In r51140 it actually says "vlan2"
So no, I haven't tried anything like that, yet.
I also have no idea how to use routing tables and other advanced dd-wrt functionality, I assume that's what you mean?
I noticed batman is included now, so have the feeling that's an interesting side avenue to explore from the perspective of mesh networks and multiple internet connection points and bonding connections etc.
Mucked around with adding usb0 to br0 that didn't seem to help, found this link https://forum.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Category:Dual_WAN there might be something useful there. So far no joy on latest release. There's no ddwrt wiki page on udhcpc.
Okay got somewhere, I believe interface usb0 is now part of a bridge, router is now invisible on network, doh. Internet works, so that's a plus. Halfway there.
nvram erase, and rolled back to r51140, I might give the next release a go.
