I've scoured this forum and the rest of the Internet and I still cannot make it work. After setting all up, pressing "connect" on the WAN page - nothing happens. Stays disconnected.
Here's the info:
Code:
Router Name
DD-WRT
Router Model
TP-Link ARCHER-C7 v5
Firmware Version
DD-WRT v3.0-r44715 std (11/03/20)
I've used this router behind an ISP issued one which was used in a bridge mode, but having moved I switched providers and now have FTTH with a media converter, so I'd like to kick out the ISP router all together.
First and second question overlap: VLAN ID for my connection to work needs to be 100
I can see a bit of info trough the ISP's router, such as
Code:
Protocol type PPP
Last connection error code
ERROR_NONE
Last connection date 22 March 2023, 21 h 20 m
ATM VP/VC or VLAN 100
MTU size 1492
as well as my username and password which are working on the existing router.
There have been other people with the same ISP and no one mentioned anything else except for the username, password and VLAN ID that should be set for the connection to work.
I've called my ISP to change PPPoE password, on the off chance I had it wrong, no change.
I spoofed MAC address of the ISP's router, still no change.
with this set up, try to turn modem off router off..turn modem on wait for 2-3 min than turn on your router...and wait...also make sure your modem is in bridge mode..
there is also one more pppoe set up in the WAN section but i don't think its the other one...
I do use the standard pppoe on my 1043v2 (with no vid) and its working...the only thing that may be an issue is, the switch tab and vlans are WIP at the moment, so either wait and try another build or try an older build like 51887 ..or the last one 52095... _________________ Atheros

The idea is to get rid of the ISP's router. I have fiber in my apartment, which goes into a media converter (something like this) that connects to the router. Hence the vid, which is setup on the ISP router as well.
Bridge mode is an option that I can ask my ISP to activate, but I'd like to kick out a piece of equipement if I can.

in general media convertors must be in a bridge mode indeed..if not..are you getting DHCP from the media converter ??
I also did have TP-link media converter(it was a crap connection) in the past and mine was in bridge mode, as those dont have DHCP i believe...but, it was replaced with PON also in bridge mode...but on that connection i'm with static IP
The one i have with PPPoE has a DSL modem that's why i got confused and posted those gimmicks, but even the DSL is in bridge mode...so, whatever you have, to get rid of the ISP crap stuff it must be in bridge mode...In your case media converter just converts the signal from copper to optics...and you hit the PPPoE server that requires vid 100 or what ever...
as far as the settings above those that you have seems to be correct...
unless something is messy with tagging ports...and ect..
post pic of your DDWRT config's cover the sensitive data
make sure you have working DNS too and NTP time
if this is huawei GPONEPON as from the pic this is not media converter...
do you have control over it...??
I do have on mine... _________________ Atheros
