WRT32x:

After upgrading from an older version (2021), I found a possible bug in recent versions including this one:

when activating a "vap" - [Virtual Interfaces] the ethernet cable connections stop working.

i.e. the VAP is created and works normally, but the wired connections stop working when it is activated.

We presume you mean using "Apply" to activate the VAP, which restarts networking and some other associated services, and if this is with a Windows client, we all know M$ networking stack is garbage and takes entirely too long to re-initiate connection.

Router/Version: Linksys WRT32X
File/Kernel: Linux 4.9.337 #3687 SMP Tue Mar 14 07:55:59 +07 2023 armv7l
Previous/Reset: 02-16-2023-r51729
Mode/Status: AP only
Issues/Errors: Upgrade from r51729 via web browser without reset. Uptime 21 mins so far so good.
The only one problem is that 2.4Ghz channel dynamic 20/40MHz is problematic since r51787 until now. If i select dynamic 20/40MHz, the channel becomes unknown and no SSID was found. However, if i changed to full or wide HT in channel width, everything works fine and all devices become visible in wireless tab.

Router/Version: Linksys WRT1900ACSv2
File/Kernel:
Previous/Reset: r51937 / No
Mode/Status: AP
Issues/Errors:
Since r51976 I am expirencing issues with my 2.4GHz wifi which are still showing in r52020.
A while after upgrading to one of the newer releases (could be half an hour, could be multiple hours) my 2.4GHz devices lose connectivity (one of them being a ESP8266 based device).
I can toggle some of the 2.4GHz settings and hit apply to reinitialize the interface which will bring back connectivity for a few minutes only to lose it again after a short while.
Last stable release for me was r51937.

@Luisfer153cr Save and reboot, also you may want to reconfigure from scratch coming from a years old build.

@matjazk Web upgrade automatically switches partitions and it is the entire point of dual partition to alternate.

@seb666 Why is TurboQAM enabled? ESP8266 have always been problematic, also not a build specific problem.

Router: Linksys WRT1900ACSv2
Previous: DD-WRT v3.0-r51937 std (03/05/23)
Mode: Gateway
2GHz Wireless: AP (N/G Mixed) Channel: 11 (Full 20MHz)
5GHz Wireless: AP (AC/N Mixed) Channel: 48 + 44 (Wide HT40 40MHz)

Issues/Errors:

After running the excellent r50927 for ~3 months without any problems at all, I upgraded to r51937 on the 8th of March as I wanted to move to OpenVPN 2.6.0.

Although it ultimately only ran for a week, r51937 was also very good and I had no trouble with it during that time.

I was planning to stick with r51937 for the next few months and then I noticed that OpenVPN 2.6.1 had been released and this lured me into upgrading to r52020 yesterday evening.

I started experiencing wireless problems shortly thereafter, on both 2GHz and 5GHz networks, and they got so bad this morning that I had to roll my router back to r51937 earlier this morning.

The problems I experienced with r52020 manifested themselves as follows:

1. Philips Wiz lightbulbs connected to 2GHz stopped responding to Alexa last night. I had to turn them on and off to get them going again.
2. Outlook lost connection to the Exchange server at least three times this morning (Work Laptop on 5GHz).
3. MS Teams dropped two calls (Work Laptop on 5GHz).
4. SSH connections to various servers hung/froze intermittently before completely dropping with connection timed out / connection reset errors (Work Laptop on 5GHz and personal Desktop PC on 5GHz)
5. LiveOps (Serenova) phone panel continuously disconnected and reconnected itself (Work Laptop on 5GHz).

Something is not right with the r52020 release, my suspicion is that it is the "Improve stability" change (51957) that was recently introduced that is causing it. I suppose it could also be that wireless settings need to be tweaked/adjusted for this change (51957).

Whatever the case, this is all speculation on my part, just sharing my experiences with r52020, and am interested to see if anyone else finds the same.

Since reverting back to r51937 I have had zero problems.

@blkt

So the following [1] is not necessary any more?
Quote:
1. Use the ubootenv get boot_part command to learn the current Partition in use.
2. Use the ubootenv set boot_part (1 or 2 – the opposite number returned in Step 1) command.
3. DO NOT REBOOT
4. In DD-WRT GUI – Administration Tab – Firmware Upgrade Sub Tab: Upload the new ’dd-wrt webflash.bin’ file for your Router & Hardware Version. MAKE SURE THAT NO RESET IS SELECTED.
5. After Firmware Upgrade is finished the Router will automatically reboot.

No, that was Marvell users who wanted to keep stock firmware on one partition and to flash same dd-wrt partition.
DD-WRT long since supports webUI downgrade to Linksys factory stock except for WRT32X (OpenWrt sysupgrade).

There is no longer need to worry about keeping stock firmware, or potential dirty nvram config from booting stock.
Also, there was always serial recovery to restore Linksys stock firmwares before DD-WRT webUI was capable of it.

TurboQAM was enabled as the option that I turned on to reinitialize the interface (not a lot of options to fiddle with when Advanced Settings are not enabled).
I have turned it off again, but I don't thik it's related to the issue.
The ESP8266 is only one of the affected devices. Another one is an older Amazon Echo (1st Gen, I think).
I have a few more devices on 2.4GHz, but I currently can't say for certain if they are affected too.

Thank you. Checkbox for Advanced Settings just hides and expands; it does not disable any of the settings within.
See workarounds for ESP8266, but I will admit I am also using r51937 with Linksys EA8500 (Atheros not Marvell).

@reflashgordon Thank you for reporting your experiences, also great previous build choices r51937 and r50927.
